If you hammer a chest with stuff inside, what hsppens to the stuff?

you can't break chests unless they are empty.

 Joke's on you, it actually makes mining out hellstone harder. Knockback is weirder, your movement is slowed down and you need to keep track of breath while fighting off imps and skeleworms. Granted lava isn't an issue anymore, but generally you make sure to keep away form that stuff anyway when mining.

Ha!  Genned a new world, and the underground jungle goes all the way to the surface.  Not only that, but one of the shrines actually spawned in midair, halfway up to floating-island height.

I've seen that once. It was an empty shrine.

Annoying. Two things:

First, half the chests in my world don't open. Finding that all too illusive Jungle Temple chest, and not being able to open it, irks me.

Second, half my world disappeared. It looks like a nuke hit the place. Although it makes mining hellstone a lot easier (Drop down through the void for insta-hell), it deleted my dungeon.

Man, that was my main world too.

Sounds like the server crashed and needs rebooting. Had something that happened like that happen to us a couple days ago.

Oddly, the hellstone furnace I picked up after it crashed was still in my inventory when I reconnected.

The Inventory is saved every time you open the Inventory screen, IIRC.

So, I'm somewhat underwhelmed by hell. I thought this place was going to be hard. Bone serpents are ridiculous - they're big enough that you'll almost always see them, they're slow enough that they can be easily dodged, and the Blade of Grass murders the hell (hurr hurr) out of them. The imps' fireballs did 13 damage each (in full necro armor) - compare to the first night, when you have no armor, and demon eyes take out a full heart. I was more worried about my health in the underground jungle, and I used less than a full stack of potions during my mining. The first thing I did when I got down there was to pop a hellforge out of one of the buildings, and I left hell with it, 2100 hellstone, and 1000 ash blocks. I left for two reasons: full inventory, and goblin attack. If I smelt all of the hellstone, I'll have 80 bars left over after crafting everything. And that was my first hell trip ever.

Singleplayer hell is a cakewalk, though. After all my initial encounters with hell being in MP, going and hellmining in SP was simply serene. So little trouble. So few imps. No bone serpents lagaporting into your face as the first moment you see them. Peace.

The water level in the cave I drained? That's what it was at when I started draining. Also, you can see my hellmining operation. I think I did a pretty good job for my first expedition.
