There's a nice and easy trick to the Moon Lord.
Rails and Mechanical carts.
Done right, you can just go on forever blasting away behind you, now it should be even easier since he teleports behind you so you always have him in your sights.

With mechanical carts, you will also always outrun his phantasmal beam.

With that being said, I am now going to make a hell express, triggered by portal loops so going right would go loop around to the left side. It will be as wide as the expanse of a large world.

Started a new solo world with a new character to try out stuff I haven't tried before, and holy hell is the Reaver Shark ridiculous. You can fish it from the ocean and it's basically a molten pickaxe you can get early on. Got Molten armor before even beating Brain of Cthulhu.

So you ragequit because one weapon worked differently than you thought (because hitbox) and you're using shitty armor in hardmode?

There's absolutely no reason for you to be in iron armor in hardmode.

That's scaling: it uses a bunch of factors to make mobs stronger as you get stronger.
I had 120-health 30-damage (in spectre armour) slimes.

It may also have been a crit, and damage isn't static. There is some random to how much damage mobs do.

But really, you walked into a furnace wearing tissue paper. It doesn't matter if its two-ply or one-ply, you still gonna die.
