Playing for more then a few hours without the hookshot? I don't know how you managed, but it is something I couldn't do.


Hell, I made a new account to play on with a friend recently, and having to go without rocket boots, molten armour and a small countries arsenal of weapons was devastating.

I still don't have hookshot
Though I'm doing just fine with my flappers and cloud in a bottle.


I raided a dungeon, when I first went in the door without speaking to the old guy, I was surprised he didn't attack. I kept on going down, and when I opened a chest, took Muramasa, boom, dead. The skull was too slow, though.

And god damn I love Muramasa. So much better than a steel broadsword.

I don't know, I'm getting by fine. I was getting by even before I got rocket boots and the cloud. It's just a matter of how determined you are. A grapple is just a convenience.

Conversely, my best weapon so far is a demonite battleaxe. All these fancy swords don't really do anything except take up an extra hotbar slot.

Good news: I figured out why my numberpress attempts at my scripts werent working (has to register keydown with a set amount of time to the game), AND I figured out how to read in numbers/characters from a file using autohotkey.  Expect an attempt at an autobuild script soon.

Rock walls&platforms. For corruption chasms, you can place ebonstone randomly at ebonstone background, so it's easy to set one-block-wide stairs down to the orb. After you blow up the orb chamber with dynamite, you just don't run out of ebonstone anymore

And had luck with finding cloud in bottle in first chest underground, that helped a lot as well. Then... it's just matter of some jumping. For large underground water spots, flippers and pick to make air pockets.

I actually got so used that I still jump and platform around, forgetting I have the hook

Eater of Worlds can be summoned with chunks of rotten meat, which are dropped by Eaters of Souls.

Actually he can be summoned with wormbait, which gets crafted with rotten meat.

Hint for people wanting to go to hell safely:

Demonite armor + that +10% melee speed item + gold pickaxe = Golden shield.

Then use a regular weapon to kill the bone snakes when they show up.

unfortunately to advance the game I have to solo Skeletor... So I am getting a helm to replace my miner helm (that makes exploring underground tollerable)

hopefully that will lower his damage to tollerable levels.

Just as I was going back home with molten pick, a skeleton dropped a hook, at last!

I had everything to make the vine whip, but no hook until some 7 hours of play. It's a good thing I got both jumping accessories early.

I am using a Musket filled with Meteor shots.

Right now it does the most damage of all my weapons.

The problem is that I have a lot of trouble dodging his head spin (which can combo you) and I don't have large potions (small potions have longer regeneration times...).

A boomerang's pretty good for dealing damage during the headspin, just backpedal while pelting him, it pings of and returns instantly.
Just make sure you don't get backed into a corner and you're golden

Ok Skeletor time for one last battle... This time with full shadow armor and a musket!... but no large potions... UGH!

I'd join servers but there is something wrong about depleting their resources.

I thought Shadow armor would give me a speed boost... I am not noticing anything.
