On Forsaken's server I tried to build some orange dye farms made on a similar idea, but the bloodroot would never grow, so it didn't seem to work...

Are there any world editors for 1.2 yet?  Any that will blot out lava en masse?

TEdit works, some blocks are purple but it'll suffice.

Thank you for making my day less frustrating.

I messed something up the first time I tried the edit.  Terraria rejected the map and I had to revert.  Then I tried a load-save cycle and it worked, so I tried the lava-deletion again and it worked.  I'm happier now even if I'm still peeved about the liquid model.

Well then, would Plantera's bulb grow on actuator-linked blocks?

Even with a world viewing program, finding a pyramid for a sandstorm in a bottle is annoying.
If you don't have it yet, there's a world file on Terraria's forums with precisely that.

Meh, might as well just cheat it in.

I prefer to dig up every single desert and cry when there is no pyramid at all. I have lots of sand though, glass is not a problem.

Why do you want the sandstorm specifically? All three versions are identical aren't they?

I believe he is hunting for all three to make a Bundle of Balloons.

Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Anyone know if lava can still form a thin layer on wooden platforms? I want to make a gel farm but I'm not sure if that's been updated.

Water goes through platforms.
Back in 1.1, it stayed on platforms for some reason, which made gel farming really easy. All you had to do was put the platforms above a pool of water that had the slime statues in it, so that the slimes floated up to the lava and died.
Here's a picture, and another of it working.
Basically, can this still be done? I'd find out myself but I don't have any slime statues.

Two reasons.
Firstly you can combine all the different bottles in balloons together, and get all three of their jump bonuses at once in a single item.
Secondly they aren't equal. Sandstorm lasts about twice as long and jumps about twice as high as blizzard, which is itself about twice as good as cloud.

The Sandstorm in a Bottle, in my experience, has been the better of the three. The 'spinning' part of the jump actually gives a pretty large boost to your horizontal velocity *if* you weren't maxed out already.

Why do you need slime statues to test if lava sits on top of platforms?

Rockets are AMAZING for this.  Save your money for an eclipse, and visit the cyborg to get a LOT of rockets that destroy blocks.  Just wreck the terrain.

Dunno, but you can just have that thin bit of lava in front of the statues. That works just fine. There is (or was, anyway) a working one on forsaken's server if you have (/want to ask for) access.

Not sure what you'd want all the water for anyway, honestly...

...actually, that's a great question. I'll go find out right now.

It's so the slimes float up, but if what you're saying is true, it shouldn't be needed. I'll try that out too.

The statues are there so that:

a) they spawn the slimes
b) they stop the lava burning the platforms and making obsidian
