Quite a large and lengthy ship for a crew of mere 40 and a deck count of 4, huh? ;)

What about intraship transportation? It would probably take quite a while to go everywhere on foot in this mile-lengthed behemoth. Also, what about crew assignments, and our chain of command?

Heh, half of the space is taken by gravity generators (that's and the engines are probably only "magic" tech on board by the way) life-support systems and power lines. But yeah it is big for 40 people anyway :P

About transport There's two elevators system along the main ship axis and three vertical shafts (Bridge - Crew, Labs - Engines , Bay/Cargo - Armory), besides that there's heavy-lifting platform in Cargo area . But well, rest of rooms have to be reached on foot.

Crew assignments and chain of command in first turn :P

Turn 1


Shortly after you arrived and unpacked in your cabins you are summoned for the briefing to the map room.You can see most of the crew is already here gathered around the screen on the starboard wall. You can see the mission director from the moon base communicating his last instructions. You wonder if this could be the last time you hear someone who's not part of the "Iter Longum" crew.. Well, looks like you missed the boring part:".. and what's most important you must remember that the mission goal is to explore the unknown on the scale not even thought of before! While general exploration is very beneficial, our strategic and economical teams designated few top priority targets that if encountered should be immediately investigated. First of all sources of rare materials platinum,rhenium and radioactive chemical elements.These are essential for humanity expansion ! Speaking of it , seeking out Earth-like planets for future colonization should be one of your prime goals. Our newest ships are ideal for that but they lack "Iter Longum" speed and sensors and we cannot afford any loss, finding the potential colonies is your goal : you will establish beacons on easily habitable planets after you ensure they're safe of course.There's a third goal that some could take with a bit of skepticism but if there's a chance we have to take it into consideration. I have in mind of course the problem of other sentient life-forms - you must be wary that it's possible you will be the ones who make the First Contact! That said, i hope everybody understands how important this mission is. Your captain will introduce you with the details in due time. Godspeed."The screen goes black and you can feel the tension and anticipation in the air.A man wearing a gray suit -similar to this worn by yourself but with a red stripe on the shoulder instead of blue - turns around and speaks :" My name's Jack Hayes and i will be your captain for this journey and i hope it will be a successful one. We must now select our first destination and i will now appoint 8 of us to form a planning squad - i want the decision to be impartial and everybody here proved to be experienced enough to make that decision"As the captain point at you,you are speechless.Even afterwards you can't stop to wonder what's the reason behind his decision : the ship's destination is in your hands ... Captain divides among you few folders containing the proposed first destination planets info and tells you to think it over before the ship reaches the starting position. You can hear the conventional thrusters heating up.Speakers suddenly come alive : 10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1..0![5] The automatic start from the moon went flawlessly, now it's time to choose the destination :

I realized that we need to select some starting destination so Turn 1 is more of turn 1/2. And I guess there's no need to issue you equipment while you're on the ship unless there's emergency (now it will happen for sure ;p)
You're all in the map room,after choosing destination and (proabably ) succesfull start you will get assigments (that means you get some free time :P)
Chain of  command to make it clear : Earth Command ->Captain->Section Commander -> Planning Team (YOU :P)-> Rest of the crew.

"I say we hit Ki poneo first. The grivty is light enough for the ship to land and take off without as much stress as the other planets. We can use the water for deuterium cracking as well as a resupply after it gets decontaminated."

Keeping the engines in mind, I'd say we push for Punger Prime; start her up nice and easy.  Not to mention our investors probably want some sort of turnaround as soon as possible.

Who needs meteorite resistant spaceships anyway,hehe.But that makes me remember something i should mention : ship has no weapons except lasers for removing rubbish from the hull.
Oh, and another thing : the ship can holds fuel for around month of travel, basking solar panels in the light for 3 days would make for a day of travel if you by the way.
And if you want i'll add few real systems next time, but don't judge me if they won't be very realistic or not exactly what they seem to be :P
Also I'm disappointed that takeoff was so smooth, it would be funny if something happened right after the start.

as a player i agree with taricus, but i have to do this for the character

Triparces would be the best choice, It is more habbitable and would allow us to double check the validity of collonisation

Also, if you ever need some good ideas for planets, I'd be willing to help while I'm on the waiting list.

P.S. Given the complex and expansive nature of real life stellar cartography, we'd probably be better off with fictional star systems.
