My current main source of hype for TPP is NOT HAVING TO PLAY AS SNAKE CONSTANTLY

I'm looking forward to playing Snake in a smart, stealthy, furthering-the-cause kinda way... and then heading out as some faceless mook to go on a bloody rampage across that huge map when I need a change of pace. :P I wonder how your 'reputation' or whatever will affect things.

My hype for this comes from PeaceWalker, which is like the much smaller non-open world mobile port of TPP.  (You don't have to be snake for most missions.  Albeit, you do for main missions on first playthrough.)

I'm very hype about the buddy and loadout systems. The only thing that bothers me is similarities to Far Cry 4, which was ok at best. But I think those are just inevitable for an open-world tactical stealth game, and when I tried to stick C4 to some unlucky bastard and it went right through him I knew the difference in quality between that and Metal Gear.

Being able stick a fulton to basically anything would sell me on any game.

Ground Zeroes didn't have a fulton, so who knows if Phantom Pain will.

Are you kidding me? Have you watched any of the demos for the game so far? They all feature you fultoning enemies, objects, and animals. It's going to be in PP.

I had a realization about the Fulton, too. MGS3 can be considered the beginning of Fulton Saga, and in that it only served a plot role and had all of its attributes described as those of the real Fulton Recovery System. That included a weight limit of 500 lbs. So how, in Phantom Pain, can all of these far more heavy things be fultoned? Quite simple, MSF spent Peace Walker researching and improving the Fulton, and Diamond Dogs will do the same.

Thank god for Hideo Kojima's obsessive love of obscure military research projects.

IRL the system could handle more than a thousand pounds if a plane, rather than a helicopter, was involved.

Absurdity is an inherent element of Metal Gear; the series goes through all the motions of nihilism, existentialism, and absurdism. This game is going to be grimdark for sure, but I'm confident from the things we've seen that the Metal Gearness of it is well intact.

I've actually been avoiding trailer and demos and really most info on the game so far so I can actually be surprised by stuff. So excuse me if I get something wrong.

I'm also unreasonably excited that snake now doesn't carry around a small arsenal on his person.
and you can see the rifle on his chest so cool
