So, in the wake of Minecraft Vs. Dwarf Fortress discussions, someone gave me the idea to make a comparison of Sim City and DF.

I like Sim City and DF for different reasons. I REALLY like the economy management of certain Sim Whatever games. However, I like DF for many many other reasons, and I've definitely played it more So I'm voting DF.

When I saw this thread the first thing I thought was "Needs more Desert Bus VS Dwarf Fortress". I think I have a problem.

No, no, clearly, we should be having a discussion about Total War and Dwarf Fortress, especially the as-yet-incomplete Army Arcs and Kingdom Modes, which will clearly allow us to conquer the world piece-by-piece in the style of Total War.

We also need to have a Rollercoaster Tycoon versus Dwarf Fortress discussion, because Toady compared the tavern management system to that game.

Besides that, we should also have Capcom versus Dwarf Fortress, just for completeness.  (Of course, that might have to wait until special attacks and martial arts are in DF so that we can have combo moves.)

To be fair if were were going to Compare DF to strategy games, it would have to go against Europa Universalis 3 as well as Total war.

I'd kill for a new, actual Sim City game.  The last one released, SimCity Societies, wasn't even made by Maxis, and certainly wasn't a real Sim City.
