I disagree with the sentiment that Squats should be left out - this is a mod - of dwarf fortress. Honestly, I can't think of any reasons not to include them. Maybe even as a playable race to "play around" with the fact that they've been "gone" for so many years.

I am going to copy the chicken entry and rename everything chocobo and make it 100x the size of a normal chicken and make it rideable.  Too bad our dwarves probably wont ride them. >_>

Not sure if this is possible but maybe change all the mineral deposists so we can make armour and weapons with the power\strength of WH40k weapons. As I suppose we will be a colony on an Alien planet so you can make the names of the deposits up...but I'm not knowledgable of WH40K so I maybe the materials things are made of are well documentated therefore you wouldn't need to make them up at all.......

Hope this mod moves forward as it's something I'm very interested in..

I can replace the ores with things that are very dense. I suppose that would make them do plenty of damage.

EDIT: I got termagants shooting bronze, it causes decent damage. I did run into the problem that I cannot seem to find a reasonable body type... How does one have a give a quadruped arms and claws? I'll post up what I have so far when it begins to at least vaguely resemble dwarf fortress with tyranids. Then I'll start adding in all the more futuristic stuff.

Why start with tyras? I'd start with humans, modding in flashlights, powerswords and stuff should be easier then making a completly new race. Orks, Eldar and Space Marines could be similar, after all they're at least bipeds and weapons can be modified. I'd suggest to mod Pistol/Sword combos as one single weapon however.

Perhaps pistols could be an 'offhand' weapon I.e. a shield with a good attack.

I think to keep with the 40k feel that Necrons should more like the clowns and the cottoncandy could be called Living metal.

I'd like weapons to be items, but for the Tyranids it would be preposterous. You'd see imperial guardsmen running around shooting venom cannons.

If you, or anyone else, wants to work on stuff for this mod, that would be awesome. Whatever you make is fine. If it is horrible, I just won't use it. :P If it is ok, I'll stick it in there and possibly change it slightly.

I started with Tyranids because I like them. In addition, once done, they will be able to be plopped into my regular games for an added challenge. They will siege quite early.

EDIT: Here is what I have so far. There is likely a lot with it that is not working, but it seems ok. The main problem is that hormagaunts and termagaunts are both called termagaunts, and I don't seem to know why.

In the real warhammer, there's 1 space marine for nearly every other world.

I think it should be done as both really, but if I had to pick the Very rare for imperium

In terms of numbers, yes. However, if a chapter decides to go to a planet, there will be more than one or two that show up. I can do both, it is not much of an issue. The main thing to wonder about for the smurfs is whether to make them as powerful as in table-top or in the novels. If I make them like they are in the novels, it will be a struggle to make a gun that does more damage than them throwing it.

I can replace the ores with things that are very dense. I suppose that would make them do plenty of damage.

I think you'd make a whole new creature body plan, alter it like this, and give termagaunts that body plan, etc. I think.

Either way works fine. There's no real need to make a whole new body plan to add the two impalers when you can just add that tag to the body line.

Oh, and its' TermaGANT, not termaGAUNT.

YES, it is TermaGANT.

but the basic troops are HormaGAUNT, so don't get these confused, oh the maker of the mod!
