I had no idea there was a 4 hours delay. It explain things now, as it's not the space (last year tournament i had no space problems), i'll just wait then.

I'm quite curious on who's the most experienced here. Other than LASD, who would win IF he had joined.

I'm not even that experienced on Bay12 standards, I placed 9th from the 33 Bay12 people that took part in the annual tournament and I've only got one win. Also, my last exam is now done, so add me to Team Two. I'm ready to start crawling again.

This is an unofficial tournament. The official one is still in August.

Oh sweet, changing it all out of sudden did seem really weird. So it's all good, there'll be time to set up the thread well in advance.

on the game, i just learned to never ever underestimate the Call Imp spell that i usually discard in favor to other kind of summons.

On my current run (can't believe he's always alive) , after exploring 13 or 14 Dungeon floors and most of Lair without finding a single book (in opposite to my last offline tile game in which i was finding them at every corners), my High Elf Wizard of Vehumet thanks to his starting book could access to Call Imp.

And it's exactly what has kept him alive, at a good level with lots of magic points, you can get a decent army of Imps (too bad there are that much Red imps that are spawning, they're very dangerous for you as they tend to teleport away when you would need a solid front line) and get out of very bad situations thanks to them.
And with some Shadow Imps, you can get additional zombies from the killed monsters, it's very helpfull when you manage to down a strong enemy.

I'm working on it. My adventurers usually die around 5-9 Which sucks.

Hmm. I did some looking around on the matter and it ends up it'd work but I'd have to get ahold of a SSH client anyway to alter my options file on CDO and in that case, why not just play it in ascii?

Oh well, maybe next time.

I'm currently playing with webtiles: http://crawl11.dyndns.org/players/demos.html

It works well most of the time.

1. Create an account on CAO and edit your option file ('rcfile'). I already had one from last years tournament.
2. Create an account on CDO with the same name.
3. Start playing!

You need an SSH client to create an account on either server. PuTTY, Nettiles, etc.

I have played all my games until now with Webtiles too in this tourney with an excellent portable version of Iron (Chrome without the privacy concerns regarding google) so i don't mess security settings of my actual browser, and it works nicely (though i really really miss my real Tile mouse-driven interface)

If using those telnet program like Putty is difficult to register an account, use NetTiles

While it will not work unfortunately for playing version 0.8 of Crawl , there is a built-in putty that will make it easier to create an account, because everything is already setup for you by default in NetTiles.

In the NetTiles menu, select Play Online and there's it's easy to create your account.
Then once you got your CAO/CDO account, you can use it through WebTiles.

I only joined Zin as I found myself stuck with a cursed Sling and I wanted something to save me.
