Edlothiol, the Webtiles developers wants to implement a minimap like in the Tile offline version :

I do plan to implement a minimap, but it will probably take me some time.

Hopefully he'll manage to get it to work for the next tourney.

I see the average playtime for winning games is like 15-20 hours.

Wut. If it took me 2 hours to get pretty far into lair, and thats the furthest i've been, there is like 10x more content ahead of me? What is this nonsense!

Because they take breaks, and come back later in the evening or the next day or say, but it still counts that time.

It takes me an hour to get to the orc mines. Two to get to the lair, guess there is a lot ahead?

Just add up the levels - you're probably about 12 levels in, and are spending about 10 minutes a level. For an average 3-runer, you're looking at 27+8+5+5+8+5 = 58 levels as a minimum. Throwing in the Hive, Crypt, Orc and Elf brings you to 74. So you have between 45 and 60 levels of dungeon to go, and at your current pace that means between 7 and 10 additional hours of content before you can complete the game.

I looked on CAO scoreboards "Fastest Wins (Real Time)" , apparently there is a player that fetched the 3 runes + zot in just a little more than 1 hour
http://crawl.develz.org/morgues/trunk/cashybrid/morgue-cashybrid-20110405-012118.txt

I can't understand how it is even possible.

For the time playing, i think it's not much of the content ahead that makes the increase of playing time, but the difficulty.
Up to temple i usually press O to autoexplore, it goes quick, but after temple when getting to Lair, the difficulty really increase, so i moving manually tile by tile, then the difficulty continue to increase, so much that i will make a lot of retreat back to my stash to modify my equipment in accordance to the new threat etc...
And in the end there is a lot of retreating to do so you can heal for the avalanche of high damaging enemies , all of this add a lot more time.

And personnally as i like to setup a big stash with every nice i found, instead of just letting them on the floor, i may lose a lot of additional time.

Felid zerker would have very little subtlety- no equipment management other than jewelry, sac every corpse you don't eat, and berserk everything that doesn't fall easily to melee.  It'd mostly be a charge through the runes down to Zot.

HMR stands for Hazardous Materials Requisition, not Horrible Massive Ruination, though I can understand how one could get confused.
God help us if we have to agree on pizza toppings at some point. There will be no survivors.

I don't think he only berzerk rushed his way, because the amount of turns it took for him to get the victory is 91333 turns
In comparison to the guy that is in 2nd position in this quickest victory in real time
http://crawl.akrasiac.org/rawdata/78291/morgue-78291-20100828-172732.txt
that did it in 16625 turns.

Yeah, I didn't think felid zerker was doable, but I was in the middle of playing one when the tourney ended, and was chugging along nicely.  I reached Zot with my Troll Chaos Knight for the first time after the tourney I managed to scroll-learn spellcasting and was a respectable necromancer (Fell asleep while mashing the button in slime pits while delving for loot and died, watch out for that ghost! nearly 230 HP, shield in the 40's, and insane resistances to everything, great mutation set), and I'm well on my way with my Troll Necromancer now, (Worshipping Xom still)   If I had dropped that ghost early on, I would have 1st place on ghost kills.

Here's his Morgue
http://crawl.develz.org/morgues/0.8/DrkPaladin/morgue-DrkPaladin-20110531-114136.txt

I was banished to the abyss for a long time, and it was a super entertaining game.  About 8 spectators were watching my hijinks in the abyss Xom thought it was hilarious to teleport you away from the abyss exit, and xom saved my life as many times as he screwed me over.  People were lolling at me alternating between summoning canines and small animals against demons to butchering with animate skeleton while blocking hits to fend off starvation. every potion was drunk, and every scroll used.  Xom mutated me and tormented me constantly, keeping my health at half.  I walked in with the randomly shout mutation, attracting every monster for miles, and left an entirely different animal with the abyssal rune in hand.  Since I was banished deep in elf halls, I was worried I would be surrounded upon escape, but managed to walk away.

Also notable is that Xom randomly drained my exp so much that I went between 19 and 20 about three times

He pretty much Berserk rushed his entire way down.

I watched one of elliptic's SpEn runs one time (0.7).  He dove straight down, retreating from anything that wasn't easily stabbable.  He had no stash despite his low strength and didn't even waste time going into the temple for a god.  He was looking for a few specific things: control teleport, spell book with apportation, repel missiles. (maybe abjuration and a few others I can't remember), resistance and brilliance potions, a ring of resist fire, amulet of resist mutation.

For the places he needed to go he used control teleport.  In the V8 he cast repel missiles and haste, used a scroll of blinking to get away from the guards, read magic mapping, the control teleported into each of the vaults checking only the things that might be useful.  On Zot 5 he read magic mapping, quaffed his potions, randomly teleported till he got close the orb, apported it, picked it up control teleported out.

Oh, in the beginning he turned off everyone one of his skills.  He didn't train anything until he got apportation and then he trained translocations.

What impressed me so much was that he knew EXACTLY what he needed/wanted and he didn't bother with anything else.  And he did all of this at a lightning pace.

I learned a lot of techniques from watching him, but never had the balls to try any of them.

There's some stats about the amount of player and server usages of the tournament :
http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/may-tournament-is-over

roughly 400 players by days, that's impressive.
