So clowns are immune to water, magma, atom-smashers, and most traditional methods of killing things.

They don't like falling chunks of rock or stabby spikes.

What about FB syndromes? Could I use water as a carrier for hyper-deadly necrotic dust? Would it do anything?

Well we still have the old dwarven fall back of drop a cave on them. Thank you for informing my that they are immune to FB syndromesthough, that's actually very good to know.

And this particular pipe has no wiggle room, it runs right through the lava and is encased in semi-molten rock. I'm going to go ahead and cheat a little and use reveal to find a more suitable site.

-Edit: After some more searching, I can actually get 1 square that makes it all the way down to hell. I'm not sure if that's really big enough to make the statement I'm going for here though.

I just had an idea involving dropping the whole world on them. I'm going to start another thread, as it is a bit off-topic.

If you have a big enough pool in the sea, yeah you could make a fortress in it by doing that. Just keep in mind that any tile labeled "Magma Flow" cannot be turned into obsidian.
What would happen if water touched it?
Accidental !!Science!! from my part can attest that it just vanishes. If there is magma right above it, then that magma tile turns into obsidian, which drops into the magma flow/molten rock, which disintegrates it. If that molten rock is exposed, I guess water would just turn into steam, or be absorbed completely. The bed of the magma sea is an universal drain for anything non-magma.

I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

The wiki page for demons needs work, but it does presently list all things demons are inherently immune to.  It's a long list.

No wonder dwarven plumbing is so terrifying.

Cave-ins are a strange thing.  A 1 Z cave in works as well as a 50 Z (although much less theatrical) and a cave in only results in leaving material sitting atop the first solid wall, while smashing through any non-wall floor.  Natural stone will leave a natural wall, constructed stone will leave a boulder.  No amount of cave in force will ever smash through a solid wall.  The SMR will atom-smash anything that falls onto it, although I've had dwarves walk on it before by digging creatively.  You CAN obsidian cast the magma sea, but only by casting the edges, like near a pillar, as these will be supported by the existing stone, and then you can expand the casting further to encompass the newly-supported tiles.  Water dropped directly into the sea will cast obsidian, cave in, and atom smash against the SMR.

That being said, I stalwartly support the idea of an upside-down rocket launch pad, complete with intrepid nobles dwarven explorers of the deep.  You can use DFHack to change stone into obsidian, as I've accidentally make an area of microcline and slate into obsidian before, so you might be able to use DFHack to override the SMR and magma sea, replacing it with obsidian which CAN be dug through freely, making an opening into HFS as wide as you want.

Then I will test under ideal conditions after I do a full field test.

On a side note, I was pondering making it like an orbital strike pod, but I can't think of a way to make it so the intrepid explorers will survive the fall.

I guess I am just going to have to put the most useless brave dwarves in the spire, along with all the rum and sorpses of my enemies that won't fit in my refuse piles or butcher shops anymore...

Ideally, have them land on a living creature.  Combining this with cave-ins and the volatile nature of magma, and it's near impossible.

Badass, but not going to work. Semi molten rock eats everything you throw at it.

BONUS:Add magma inside the tubes and make each tube have a self release mechanism inside it.
MEGABONUS: Same as before, but rather than magma, make your tube a home and send your nobles into hell that way, with enough food and lodgings.
ULTRABONUS: Rather than nobles, send your legendary masterwork adamantine-clad melee squad. Conquer hell with dropships !

I think that if you pierce hell with anything other than the tunnels in the adamantine tubes, the initial superswarm of demons doesn't spawn.

Not so.  The act of observing HFS unleashes it.  DFReveal, if you unpause it while revealed, will release it without any digging.
