Differences between SDL and Legacy modes?
« on: May 11, 2011, 10:50:18 pm »

Legacy seems to work better with my machine, showing animations properly.

Does legacy work with all the regular texture packs and mods?
what are the differnces between the 2?

SDL has dynamic resizing, it's less resource intensive... there's more that I don't remember off the top of my head, but it's mostly that sort of thing and doesn't effect texture packs or mods.

Awesome thank you :)

Would you know how to use Legacy with Deons Genisis mod?
I can only find a prepacked version that must be SDL as it doesnt show the animations on my machine

Legacy DF is not working properly with Texture packs or mods

++EDIT++

Mods work, its the texture packs that dont as legacy only supports BMP.
Easy way to convert?

If the texture pack just uses a pink (technically magenta) background, just resave it as .bmp.
If it uses an actually transparent background, you might get away with pasting it over a magenta background and saving as bmp, if it doesn' use alpha-blending.
If it uses alpha-blending, no.

Dwarven blood types are not A, B, AB, O but Ale, Wine, Beer, Rum, Whisky and so forth.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.
