What, are we all just listing off champions we like? Let's do this then.

Akali - I need more rune pages so I can play her again.
Alistar - My main support. I am aggressive as fuck when I support.
Amumu - Pretty fun, not ridiculously so. I prefer Rammus/Cho.
Annie - I own her because she is 450.
Ashe - See Annie.
Cassiopeia - My main AP. Still one of my favorite champions. I remember one game a couple weeks ago where my team was protecting me perfectly: I just got in good positioning and spammed spells while the enemy team brawled with my tanky people. I got like three triple kills that game.
Cho'Gath - Fun jungler, and my first choice when we need a tank jungler. Having your smite deal an extra 1000 damage if you time it right is epic.
Dr. Mundo - I bought this guy to try and be Dyrus. I'm not Dyrus.
Fiddlesticks - The only AP jungle pick. I really want them to make alternatives, because he's fun but not really my favorite.
Fizz - He's fun! And an assassin. I used to main assassins before I switched to jungling, so this guy is making me a bit nostalgic. I play him either solo top or mid, depending on who the lane opponent is. I find him to be very matchup-dependent, losing to a lot of sustain champs that aren't vladimir.
Gangplank - My main jungle pick right now. With the new masteries he's not that much of a low-HP jungler anymore, and his ganks are still trolly.
Gragas - Occaisional AP pick, but it's been ages since I've played the big man.
Irelia - Good solo top, haven't played her in ages.
Karma - hahahaha
Kayle - I own her because she was 0 IP.
Kennen - He's like my third AP pick or something. I usually lose to other kennens because I'm a baddie.
Lee Sin, the Blind Monk - Solid jungler. I tend to find Riven more fun than him.
Leona - My main lane-tank pick now and forever.
Malphite - yawn
Master Yi - I want to play him but... yeah, he's Master Yi.
Morgana - Old favorite. Don't play her enough.
Nasus - Default solo top pick, but I haven't played him in a while. Need to do that again.
Nocturne - See Lee Sin, the Blind Monk.
Nunu - oh god I am such a bad nunu
Olaf - When I want to play a better version of jungle Trynd.
Poppy - It's been a while. I can't stack philostones on her anymore, unfortunately.
Rammus - Apparently he's OP now?
Riven - Still a great jungler.
Ryze - bleh
Shaco - Trying to learn him. Feeling guilty while I do it.
Shyvana - Good jungler, a bit bad with the ganks. But she's a fantastic counterpick to slower junglers (fiddlesticks, warwick). You're like three times faster than them, so run in and take everything they own to make sure they're like three levels behind the rest of the game.
Sivir - See Ryze.
Skarner - About as broken as Udyr.
Sona - Maybe I should play her again? She's sort of aggressive support.
Taric - My friend told me to play him if I like Alistar, so I did. He's fun, but I still need practice. Better heals than alistar, worse CC.
Teemo - I'm not a noob anymore.
Tristana - See Kayle.
Trundle - General good jungler. Hard to counterpick against if you're doing ranked, so pick him if you're early. Hurts melee-heavy teams and can rock most jungle picks 1v1. His pillar interrupts fiddles' drain.
Tryndamere - I play him rarely, but I tend to do decently. I'm looking at the new cleanse right now. Hm...
Twisted Fate - AP pick. Sorta. Haven't played him in ages.
Udyr - About as broken as Skarner.
Vayne - My primary (read: only) ranged AD pick. Apparently she's not that easy to pick up, because two of my friends are trying to learn her and they're terrible. Like, I thought she was really easy but maybe she just fits my playstyle.
Veigar - Yeah. He's Veigar. Waiting for the rework.
Warwick - I seem to have forgotten how to do well with him.
Wukong - Default TT/Dominion pick, although I don't play those very often. Gotta learn him solo top.
Xin Zhao - I just don't find him that fun.

Yeah, metagame and champ selection and counters doesn't mean much if you can't play your dude properly, likewise even if something is a hard counter to something you can always play properly and scare them shitless thus rendering them useless for the earlygame and allowing you freefarm.

The big point you guys are missing is that the metagame only applies when there's teamwork involved to take advantage of it. In solo queue, the standard rules don't apply and you can play fuck all and still win.

That sort of thinking is why solo queue can't teach anyone anything about the game. There's no teamwork in the draft selection (or god help you, you're playing blind pick). Even if the enemy team decided to go all AD, you can bet the solo queue pubbers will still play their normal champs without diverging a single ounce from the common strategy. Admit it, it's what you guys do. This is understandable too, not everyone has the time to learn 50 champions. Not everyone can be bothered to keep up with the metagame. It's also why there are so many champions popular in solo queue like Akali, Cassiopeia, and old Morde, but you barely ever see them in tournament matches. Because these guys are pub stompers and against proper teamwork, their viability falls through the ground.

Because of this lack of teamwork, all solo queue fosters is playing selfishly, even if the player himself doesn't realize this. Solo queuers end up developing a skewed perspective of how the game operates and end up judging situations by their past experiences in solo queue instead of what the game really is. To give an example, it would be like me a long time back, spouting nonsense about how Xin Zhao could beat anyone at top lane even though in practice... this was bullshit.

Just because we're not pro doesn't mean we can't think like them. And once you start thinking like them, you'll be on the road to playing like them. The game isn't hard after all.

Admittedly, I do too much solo queue. It leaves me frustrated. There's really no way to win besides to win your lane and carry hard. The problem here is that the roles normally reserved for carrying hard are often taken by some of the weakest members on your team. I do watch some pros play and I do read a hell of a lot of guides, usually trying to take their advice into practice in solo queue.

I've been watching the Giant in the Playground LoL thread, so I've been meaning to sign up there and join a few premades, just to prevent typical feeders from happening and hopefully have a much more fun time with LoL. I have lots of champions already, despite not being level 30, but I could definitely use more runes.

Maybe I should try Xin Zhao...

What umiman says is pretty much the truth, don't expect to win 5v5 premade games with the 'tactics' you pick up in soloqueue.

There's a problem in that I'm not level 30 yet, which means unoptimized runes/masteries, and I'd have to unlearn a bunch of stuff from soloqueue just to adjust to premades.

I don't really have much by way of set champions for each class either. I can't play AD carries, period, aside from maybe Tristana. Other than that, I enjoy Blitzcrank/Taric for support, Annie/Ryze/Kassadin for AP mid, Warwick/Nasus for solo-top. I can't jungle yet.

Xin Zhao went from bullshit to pubstomper to why bother.  Unless he changed recently, there's pretty much no reason to pick Xin Zhao over other champs in the same role.  That's not to say don't try him or anything, he's just been nerfed hard and is outclassed.

EDIT:  That was one of the cool things about getting to high levels.  X^Z was in pretty much every game until level 25 or so, when he suddenly vanished.

Agree. I never play seriously in solo queue, usually play champs that are fun rather than good. In ranked I play Taric mostly, who I never play solo(due to no teamwork = pointless) and it ends up in far better games, but no part of LoL is completely free of kiddies/whiners/cant teamworkers. Only solution is play with friends.

There was a time where I did play quite a few 3v3. I was a fill-in for when they couldn't get anybody reliably better. 5v5  was always a joke with my mates and I. A lot of the time at least one of us was AFK/having problems which essentially nearly made every match a 4v5. Even if we did manage to pull it together we were rarely able to have a good game. Of course nowadays those mates play other games mainly.

Since listing the champions one has and which one that person likes seems to be the fashion I might as well as well. Note I'm not really with the meta and all so its mainly about if I enjoy playing them and how much I suck with them.

Alister - Usually only use him when I'm sick of being ganged up on in previous games. Not particularly good with him.
Corki - I like to use him, however lately I've been giving this champ the flick
Kayle - Worse purchase ever for me. I'm mindblowingly crap with her
Malphite - He's okay I guess, just doesn't seem too impressive to me
Nasus - Love him to bits. While not exceptionally good with him, I'm not hopeless either.
Nidalee - Not really any good with her, but I love using her on Dominion.
Renekton - Hes cool to play. Tend to have times of near sheer brilliance, followed by stints of true noobiness.
Rumble - Fun to play, I tend to go a little overboard with abilities however. Not very good with him
Shyvana - Only played her once ever. Seems like "AwesomeLite" to me
Singed - Very rarely use him. I have been given a lecture a few times by others on my really poor skills with him so I have done the world a favor and limited my usage of him to near zero.
Sion - Meh...
Sona - One of the few champions I don't do badly with.
Taric - Common choice when I was learning to play and one of the few where my playstyle what I build has changed heavily. Unfortunately I also suck with him.
Teemo - Could possibly win the trophy for "Most Noobish Noob Teemo Ever". However I just love him to bits, so he occasionally sees usage.
Tristana - An old favorite that has seen better days. Somewhat mediocre with her.
Tryndamere - I suck with him but at least I have fun...
Twisted Fate - Okay with him. A very common choice for me in 3v3 and Domination.
Twitch - Love him to bits, but I'm not that good with him.
Veigar - Hands down the champion I'm best with (even my mates say so). Also the champion I use most as well. Also the cause of all 'OMG' related to me by relatives on vent during games
Warwick - I like playing him, but I'm only mediocre.

Haha, I just discovered something fun. If you go 21 9 0 on Vlad, standard AP runes (mpen red, ap/lvl blue, ap quints) and start with amp tome, you get exactly 600 hp and about 40 ap at level 1. That's actually more hp than most other mages if they started with Dorans.

This means your Q at level 1 does 114 damage and heals for 25. This is compared to it normally doing 90 damage and healing for 15. In practical terms, it means Vlad could kill someone in 4 Qs rather than 6 (or 3 Qs and an ignite). Of course, you'll never kill anyone with 4 Qs as they'd have to be really dumb to eat those Qs and then sit there waiting to die to your ignite, but it can give him some much needed bullying power.

It'll be fun to use against champions that you don't need boots to fight against, like Malzahar or if you went top against a melee champion. Giving up all the CDR is really painful though, since if you went standard Vlad you'd get something like 15% cdr at level 1.

Akali- Don't play her, don't like her, she's overrated and she got gunblade nerfed so fuck you Akali
Alistar- Radical brodacious beast, don't play him but I appreciate good Alistars
Amumu- Don't play him, hate seeing him on the other team, love seeing a good one on my team
Anivia- Passive is like Trynd's ult, not a devastating gamebreaker like some think but still really fucking irritating.  Scary to lane against at low health because she gets a free towerdive.
Annie- Hate her hate her hate her.  The closest lol has to a zero-skill champ.
Ashe- Used to play her, pretty indifferent.  Still remember the glory days of level 10 Ashe mid every game meta
Blitzcrank- Don't like.  Annoying, scary to lane against, passive makes me sad when it denies a kill
Brand- Used to play, don't like much, I kick his ass in lane because it's impossible to skillshot me if I'm not tired or distracted
Caitlyn- Lots of fun, very relaxing
Cassiopeia- Used to play, didn't understand why people thought she was so hard until I realized I couldn't actually play her (Needs very high APM to function in a teamfight, I couldn't cut it)
Cho'gath- moar liek Bro'gath.  Walk all over pretty much anyone in top lane (Not Irelia though, don't cho against Irelia), nom people, and that haters gonna hate walk.
Corki- There's nothing to say about Corki.
Mundo- Funny but again, nothing to say
Eve- Oddly, Evelynn is actually really strong because the people who actually have the balls to play her and aren't trolling are inevitably crazy good
Ezreal- Female Indiana Jones.  Don't play, don't see often, usually bads it up from what I've seen
Fiddlesticks- Another one I usually see badding it up.  PLayed him a few times, didn't like.  If Amumu and Fiddlesticks are on the enemy team I've mentally checked out before the game finishes loading
Fizz-
Galio- I remember more bad Galios than good Galios.  Never played him, love the ult when he's good
Gangplank- Always badding it up, played him in Dominion and kicked ass, I like him even though people bad with him all the time
Garen-  Jeez.  Another one I always see badding the fuck out.  Don't like him
Gragas- Seen him like, three times.  Never impressed me
Graves- Is he still OP?
Heimerdinger- Inevitably has either BR or 420 in his username, inevitably bads it up
Irelia- i wub u irelia marry me.  One of my favorite champs.  Late game Irelia doesn't give a fuck
Janna- JANNAAAA
Jarvan- Apparently he's been nerfed.  Almost picked him over Irelia, glad I didn't
Jax- Dearly departed slinger of gunblades.  Will be missed.  He died for our sins but his ult was up so he didn't take any damage
Karma- Impossible to lane against, otherwise bluh.  Don't play her
Karthus- Like Brand, an easy win in lane because the bitch can't fuckin' hit me
Kassadin- Part of the reason I stopped blind picking.
Katarina- Guaranteed to bad it up.  Usually a rager
Kayle- Only remember playing with one Kayle.  I was Vayne and we fucked them up.  Friended the player and he turned out to be godlike, getting double-kills as 2v1 top blitz like it wasn't no thang
Kennen- 0/5 Sword of the Occult Kennen is the reason I unfriended breadbocks.  True story
Kog'maw- Played him a few times, didn't like him.  He's annoying but super easy to kill if you can survive getting into melee
LeBonk- Always Brazilian.  Never played her
Lee Sin- Played him a little bit, was okay, one of the last champs I played before quitting.  He's awesome if you're good
Leona- Never played, she's okay
Lux- One of my favorite champs I've never played
Malphite- rock solid
Malzahar- My favorite champ ever.  If you leave your lane for any reason, for any amount of time, Malzahar will be attacking your tower when you get back
Maokai- PLayed him once, badded it up.  Ult never impressed me
Master Yi- The dunkmaster, and pretty much the poster child of bads badding it up
Miss Fortune- Who cares
Mordekaiser- Another casualty of the crying babies.  I don't think it was as much that Morde was strong, but that Morde had some kind of hidden passive that made his opponents retarded.  I once had my teammates bitch me out for buying QSS and tell me to buy Madred's Bloodrazor so I could kill the pure tank Morde with 250 MR and Thornmail.  I was Caitlyn.  I sold my QSS and bought bloodrazor to prove a point.  He ghosted me, we instantly lost the game, point proven, totally worth it.
Morgana- Totally radical


Holy fuck I"m like halfway through.  Fuck it, I'm done.  My other favorite champs are Vayne, Urgot, and Nocturne, and I hate Sion because he's a shitty champ that somehow became fotm through what can only be a reptoid conspiracy.  That's all there is to be said.

Take Soraka and Karma duo mid. Both with heal + promote. 150 second cooldown rammus x2 (6 promotes by the 10th minute). Heal shield heal shield heal shield the promoted minion.

Race to destroy mid tower!!! Make the enemy mid cry!
