HoN's Monkey King is better, IMO. His W makes him leap on his enemies' heads and then bounce forward, knocking the enemies back. AKA he uses enemies as hopping platforms. Sounds so much more fun..
His Q is a dash, but it strikes a second time after 1 second, kinda similar to Renekton's dash. Not sure if he dashes back or forward or where you want him to dash into, but sounds better than "Point N' Click".
(E) Thousand Jin Slam: The Monkey King brings down his magic staff at full force, causing a mountain of earth to erupt in front of him, thrusting victims into the air before imploding.
So. Much. Better. Than. Sheen + Cleaver.
And for ulti he has nimbus (the cloud) that makes him move faster, but he can't use that in combat.
Well if you really want to bring down a champ for being unoriginal it's not hard at this point. If you get the same people describing the same types of things, you're going to get a lot of descriptions that sound the same (even if they're functionally a bit different); it's all about how they actually play, really. Lemme try with this "so much better" HoN monkey king.
His Q is, as you said, Renekton's slice/dice, but with potentially LESS control. Why get that over Renekton's?
His W is essentially a knockback. We kind of have a lot of those, especially with recent champs (Vayne, Lee Sin still counts as recent, right?) Oh, plus it's a dash, TOO. Can't have a new melee champ without a way to close distance!
His E is Cho'gath's Rupture. Whoop de doo.
His ulti... Is basically summoner ghost with less usefulness? It's MF's passive with slightly more/Teemo's Move Quick. Sounds... great.
Now this isn't necessarily saying HoN's monkey king ISN'T better, just trying to show that it's not really hard to make something sound boring and derivative (what the community does). It's much much more difficult to make something sound and feel unique and original, especially after 80 other champions (and this is Riot's job). I'm kind of sick of people bringing down Riot for being unoriginal. You only have so many different things any given ability can do without introducing new resource systems or champions with "exception to the rule" mechanics, and from a game design perspective regularly breaking your own rules is kind of a no-no.
