I would think that someone who has been reading these forums for a while would know the general dislike of regersting an account just to post a game. That behing said the game does look cool. Do you aim your bow with the mouse?

I was about to say that.  If he'd really been lurking for a year he'd know everybody loses their shit when an escaped lunatic posts a game thread.

Well it would be one thing if I was a spammer or the creator of the game but I'm not so no need to flip :D

Where do they keep coming from? Did we get really, popular all of a sudden? Did some big name website mention our little abode? Perhaps this is our flavor of apocalypse?

I was about to say that.  If he'd really been lurking for a year he'd know everybody loses their shit when an escaped lunatic posts a game thread.

Nothing wrong with new games being posted here, by any source that isn't spamming them repeatedly and maliciously. If the game has potential, other people reply and keep it visible, otherwise it sinks to page 2 so quickly that most don't even notice it.

I swear that half the games here have the first few responses, "Wah. Wah. Your first post was about this game." It's irrelevant. The forum would have fewer good leads without the effort by some indie devs. We should be proud of the reputation here, not acting like babies about people doing our legwork for us.

I said so in the other thread yesterday, but I do really wish folks would stop jumping on new embers just because they post a game as their first post, this is the Other Games section. After all, aren't we in this section to talk and learn about Other Games? Lets do that.

It's really not like we get a lot of spam, and honestly you CAN tell the difference if you think about it. If it is spam, just report the post maybe?

I've been in other forums.

Relative to them people were practically hugging the new member.

Mind you I apply my "Be nice, Answer, correct fault, and then move on" rule... though I don't think it applies here. It usually applies to "Noob questions that could easily be researched".

I don't consider "Yawn, really more of this shit" as a first reply to be a "hugging".

If other people are assholes, it doesn't mean you have to use it as a "proper reaction".

God you guys can really be pretensious assholes if his link is interesting do we even care if it is advertising? Looks like a free game to me why are you giveing him a hard time. All you are doing is ruining a potentially good thread to increase your e-peen?

I'm mad because I got the same treatment. *sigh*

Now when I looked at the video, it looks like a really nice platformer! I like the variety of items and the environment. Another game to wait for, thank you Joey!

I'm keen to see how this game develops. Granted, the trailers weren't outrageously impressive, but I definitely see potential.

I'm always happy to hear about new Indie games, even if it's from a new poster. It's not like he put in a referral link, or was pimping his for-profit ware. So thanks for the link and sorry for the poor reception, joey4track.

Haha. It's all good. I didn't expect the whole of the internet to be respectful and polite but thanks for the kindness. If there is enough interest in the game perhaps I'll alert the developer to the thread and maybe he'll be open to some suggestions. I'm not sure if there are plans for hunger, spells(looks like just casting from scrolls atm), crafting, etc.. but things are still in early development so we'll see...

Game is nicely animated and has great looking particle effects. But the most basic enemies taking a billion hits to kill makes it look tedious in a f2p mumorpeger sort of way. And the main character is an animu thing.

Although personally I don't find anything wrong with the first post promoting some game as long as it looks decent (as in not some crappy browser game your friend made or equivalent).

Two year necro because a public alpha has been released! Apparently back in September, but... yeah. Downloading now, haven't yet played, etc., so forth, so on. Figure folks would like to know, heh.

E: Tentative opinion: Music's decent, love the aesthetics -- reminds me of a cleaned up DOS/90s platformer, very nice -- controls are pretty decent*, everything else gameplay wise is fairly compelling. 7-8/10 on a 10 scale? Solid B to B+. On floor four, will have to see how much else the alpha's got in it.

*In terms of responsiveness and whatnot. The default setup is very much "90s era platformer", which is to say terrible and should be remapped immediately.

E2: Also the cutest little spider things <3
As a general thing, the animations and whatnot so far have been what I'd tentatively call "excellent", or at least very good. Nice stuff!
