What happend to the 40d ?

So seems last 40d posts were the 17v
The performance is so much better using it but its rather dated as far as features now.
Even in Adventure mode you can actually get a sense of animation, arrows flying, corpses splatering blood about ect...
But thats only using the 40d version :(

please fill me in as ive not been around long

40d was the last version before the current .31.## series.

Your problem is not entirely clear. Please elucidate further on what exactly it is you're looking for, and why you want it.

Aye, not sure what you're trying to say, OP. Adventure mode in the newer versions is just as animated as far as I know, and there's more stuff to do now as well. I haven't hit any unusual performance drops either, and my PC is far from cutting edge.

Its is not a problem really, more a visual quirk i get with the 2010 versions of DF Adventure mode, where thrown objects, knockbacks, arrows/bolts, blood splatter ect... simply seems to manifest or appear, like its either drawing to fast or slow i am not sure which.

DF2010: "Throw Corpse" Instant trail of blood and corpse is somewhere... oh there it is
Its like it doesnt draw at the correct rate to give the illusion of animation.

40d: "throw Corps" corpse flys tile by tile leaving blood splatterd giving the appearance of animation, i can see it being thrown.. same with arrows rocks ect...

I have tried all manner of Init settings in the current DF version.

I want to have the illusion of animation because well... considering the presentation it adds alot to the overall experience for me.

Sry i dont know what you mean by SDL/Legacy but i am running df_31_25_win
OS is windows 7

Out of all the DF i have tried the only one that shows animations is the 40d versions

Ok i see the legacy version on the main DF site, i guess i been using the SDL then?
what are the differences between the 2?

Try turning up your G_FPS rate in the init file.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Animations are working in .31. They're just a lot faster now. Maybe I can only see them because I have a slow computer, but the seem to go approximately the speed of Dwarves moving around in a new fort.

Legacy version does not help

Legacy version G_FPS: 1000
Shows animations properly

SDL version G_FPS 1000 doesnt help

YAY were getting somewhere!

I see the Legacy version doesnt have the Print mode options in it, maybe thats why it works?

why dont you just decrease the FPS cap.
It seems its just running too fast for you.

Lower FPS has no effect in the SDL version.

Using legacy and raising G_FPS to 1000 makes animations work just like the 40d version yay

Any reason i dont want to be using legacy ?

NVM i figured it, but it doesnt help
