You're not giving me much options are you?
Meh. I don't have many ideas.
...how about +1 to stabbing demons in the eyes?
Is this what you were looking for skillwise, Ironyowl?
(1) Slip Strike-Ignore armor effects on a 5 or 6 when using short blades
(1) Inventive Mind-noncombat, Double the number, or quality of results of an engineering attempt of 5 or 6
(1) Stolen Dreams-Noncombat, Double the number, or quality of results of an alchemy attempt of 5 or 6
I think I worded this poorly. I mean, I already knew I did, but I still thought it was legible. Oops.
By default, an ability is a normal attack (or dodge/crafting/seduction) roll with a +1 bonus, that has some added effect. What exactly the effect is depends on a bunch of things, including how tough your opponent is. A decapitation attack, for instance, might just deal extra damage if it'd be enough to finish something off; a stunning blow might stun enemies, but it'd stun mooks a lot longer than dragons; a bleeding attack might cause struck foes to lose HP every round. In most cases, they'd also deal normal damage but only work under a specific set of circumstances, like how heavily armored or large your foe is. To some extent you can weaken the whole thing to make it just "I chop it's head off, it works as long as they've got a head" or lower the damage for more stunning or somesuch, but in general that's how it goes.
Also, you combine three skill points into an ability, so you only get one. You could just keep the skill points around if you wanted, but they wouldn't yet do anything.
I'm still thinking of what the spell would be... Maybe thunder? Music, so the thunder, but energy, so the lightning, and maybe there'd be a delay between lightning and thunder, so time? But a burst of noise doesn't really fit the whole "classical music" thing. Or a song that energized my allies and made them quicker? But I'm not really sure how useful that would be. Maybe I could just play a ridiculously fast electric lute solo. That would be cool. But pointless.
First thing that came to my mind was Lightning Metronome- scour the battlefield with repeated, well-timed lightning. Of course, I was imagining it quite a bit more epic than you could pull off at character creation, but still.
