I really like Ukraine's background painting-thingy, even if the song itself is kinda meh. A lot of work for one song.

EDIT: I also think Russia's intro video thingy with the ballerina was kinda creepy. Whoever designed that had watched Black Swan one too many times, whatwith the mirror-image moving and the super-creepy smile in the end.

So it's over now.

I honestly have to say, the winning song is really rather mediocre. There were plenty of better songs in the contest :-\

Yeah, I was really surprised as well. I didn't remember anything about it.

Also, we (Finland) did very badly (only 4 countries or so outside Scandinavia voted for us at all >_>), but we did get some kind of international journalists' award or something. That's good enough.

I weep melodramatically for Europe, as they thought it fit to vote the Swedish piece of shit to third place.

I rather liked the winning song though. Very nondescript, but in a positive way. Definitely listenable. And yeah, that's good by eurovision standards.

I only watched the last vote-givings and the victory run, though, so I can't say if there were any better numbers.

Let's compare.

Azerbaijan(the winning song)
Italy(runner up)

As for the nordics,
Sweden(3rd place)
Denmark(5th place)
Iceland(20th place)
Finland(21st place)
And Norway didn't make it through the semifinals.

Does this sound right to you? It makes no sense to me.

I did think Italy was pretty good, or at least not mindblowingly terrible.

France, though... what happened... ?

If you've listened to those videos and noted which place each country landed in and don't think anything is wrong, then you're not going to agree with me even if I tell you. Which is terribad, I am the only authority on good music in the whole world you know.

But yeah, such is the way things are. And there's not really anything bad about it ;)

Yeah, I wasn't so fond of Azerbaijan.

And Hungary in 22nd with 0 points from Poland?  Wow.  That's a shock.  To me, anyway.

I find it absolutely hilarious that we got 12 points from Poland. And 7(?) from Ireland. That was pretty funny too.

Yeah... an attempt to be nice, I guess =/

The Lithuanian video from a year or two back, with the sparkling bike shorts, was being passed around on another forum I frequent as one of the Best Things Ever.  Honestly, I just thought it was kind of weird.
