So.. uh.. the singer holds one of the choir girls in a headlock while the others rip her top off? And what the hell at 2:55. Discrete but prompt change of camera there.

Was it 2008 or 2009 the russians brought in a miniature ice rink complete with figure skater on top?

Kill me now.

I loved that song!

No seriously, it was hilarious. Still is.

Caught a glimpse of the ongoing semifinal. There were a bunch of guys with two-metre tall hats on stage. And a girl on a unicycle. Good old eurovision still lives I see.

Ah, 'twas Moldova. I've long suspected some of the poorer eastern european countries send shitty songs to the contest to make sure they don't win, since hosting the contest (which the winning country must) would bankrupt them.

Looks like Cyprus follows the same philosophy.

Edit: I swear the Romanian artist is singing "Shave the world".

Edit2: Title of the song from Belarus: "I love Belarus".

Edit3: Ireland, what the hell?

I found the only enjoyable part of the event (watched glimpses of most of the latter half) to be the final announcing of the finalists: The announcer would break down into dancing and singing after each and every finalist was announced, as if their song was her favourite song. Every song. I guess she gets paid for it.

From the glimpses I saw, Eurovision is exactly the stereotype it's portrayed as: Generally rubbish pop with no content and poor performers.

Turds can be polished, but then all you have is a shiny turd.

Or, as in this case, a shiny turd with pointy hair and clothes made from red jelly(?)

I'm thinking Greece picked the worst artist possible so they wouldn't even have the tiniest chance of winning. There's no way they could afford to host the next contest. Same probably goes for Ireland, which is a shame, those two were funny.

The same definitely goes for Ireland. It's that same reason we entered Dustin the Turkey one year

And yet, Greece got through the semifinals.

And Iceland sent actually competent musicians even though we don't even have a venue big enough to host the competition. So who's going to win this, do you think?

...Ireland intentionally sending a terrible act to the Eurovision Song Contest?  Sounds familiar, somehow.
