When I think about it, that makes sense. Just considering the first things that come to mind:

Greek Dramatists - I can tell you about four or five, but Sophocles and Euripedes come to mind immediately, and then it gets harder to remember the names off hand after Aristophanes and Aristotle. But Sophocles and Euripedes I never forget.

Digidestined - I always forget two out of the nine digidestined.

Warcraft 3 - There have been times when I have been unable to name all four races without thinking about it, even though this took up all my preteen years.

Plays - A cast of eight is considered large. Seven or less is quite small.

Firefly - It seems like there are a lot of characters on this ensemble, but if any of them died (lol, two of them did), the cast would suddenly seem incredibly claustrophobic. The same with Star Trek, Star Wars, and things that I have written myself.

Horror Movies - It never seems like they are running out of people to lose until there are only three or four of them left. Same with Survivor, when that was on, I would say.

Yeah, that's also theoretically why phone numbers are 7 digits long in the US.  You can remember up to 7 pieces of data easily, and then it gets hard.

The more you know~

It's gotta be higher than that. I can't remember my fucking shoe size after 10 years of buying shoes, but I can rattle off my SS number like a robot.

Took you several reads of that thing to memorize it, though, didn't it? I can memorize a phone number after hearing it once (if I am lucky). But I was checking my student ID for two months before I was able to memorize my eight digit student number.

License plates... also 7 digits.

And then there's all that superstition about 7.

Hurm.

Six in Canada, too. Seven seems like too many.

Wait, I know Grakelin is from Canada, and I think Criptfeind is, too.  Max White, are you stateside, or elsewhere?

I might be wrong, of course.  I seem to remember US in general being 7, though.

According to wikipedia, your state probably ran out of numbers and adapted another digit.

Ahh, okay.  Good to know.

... Other assorted trivia: there's areas of Russia that still use only 5 digits, though it ranges from 5 through 7 in general.

It died out after the 1950's, or so I am lead to believe.

And as for the accents, it's fine on the coast, but get's worse as you head further towards Coober Pedy. Get to Alice springs and you won't notice it, because by that point you too are speaking like that.

I believe that there are 9 Rhode Island issued plates with only one digit.
