The party takes different responses to the statue looming out of the pit. The lightning flickers and plays on it, swirling around it and crackling, but it makes no move save for continuing its stare up towards the bleak, hostile heavens.

A little bit to the side is a rickety rope ladder that looks like it proceeds down to a ledge in the pit. Unless you'd prefer to jump.

Aso begins her descent down the rickety ladder, trying to keep it from breaking... (5-1=4)
She slips and falls, hitting the ground with a thump, but avoiding any serious damage, taking only 1 HP worth. (1)

Kevin follows behind her, carefully going around where she fell, but his focus on that spot leads him to hit another weak point, and he too hits the ground. (4-1=3)
He gets a few extra bruises, taking 2 damage. (2)

Sirvius follows behind them, but his grip slips on the wood wettened by the rain, and he slides painfully down to the bottom. (8-1=7)
His worst injury is his pride, though he takes 1 damage. (2-1=1)

Daniel takes a bit more care, careful not to hit the wrong rungs. (16-1=15)
He arrives at the bottom and clucks at the three sitting there. "Es peligroso, ellos. Ustedes tienen que tener más cuidado. Be more careful."

Leon slides down the ladder after him, acutely aware of the irony involved in him hitting the ground right behind Daniel and his lecturing. (15+2=17)

The group is gathered on a ledge near the top of the pit, which seems to become a ramp winding down the side around the ominous statue.
