The Genealogy is as follows:
Generation 1: Giant Desert Scorpion, Giant Caves Spider, Giant Badger, Carp
Generation 2: Giant Webbed Cave Scorpion, Giant Badger Carp
Generation 3: Giant Webbed Stinging Cave Badger Carp
Someone needs to mod that in.

It would be nice if cats could interbreed with any other species including dwarves and have their offspring retain the [ADOPTS_OWNER] tag, too.

The only thing that effects breeding is the CHILD and other associated tags.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

Just make sure the raws from your current world put jaguars and giant jaguars as [PET] and not [PET_EXOTIC]
If you manage to get a male Giant Jaguar (which you very well might), then breeding them is "sort of" an option.
I say "sort of" because you'll need to edit the raws to make them non-exotic pets, since you'll never get a Dungeon Master (and even if you give yourself one, it won't work).

No need, my Bookkeeper was given the [TAME_EXOTICS] tag. You can edit that under "Entity Default."

I don't think [TAME_EXOTICS] works.

Admittedly, I haven't had a chance to tame any exotic creatures quite yet. I'm hoping that, once I breach the first cavern, I'll get a few spiders or swallows.

Err, well, I'll never have a chance to breed them now. I done got FB'd while I had an inadequate military due to the map's lack of metal.

You need to add Giant Eagle so it will fly, and imps so it will shoot fireballs.

Thanks for the suggestion, but Number4 is correct: [...] it would be easier and more predictable to just be a racist.

Did somebody just rule 34 two veins of metal?

You pussies haven't mentioned camels, horses and other deadly unguligrades for what reason again?

I went ahead and loaded up my depot with... and a stupid goblin snatcher in a tin cage.

really?
how?
do you know a trick or has that little whatever-ness been fixed where animals and goblins will escape from cages when you try to sell them?

Edit:
Also; I had some jaguars one time. 3 females and a dude. I didn't get them to breed before one of the females died from old age. I'm convinced they don't breed.

Yeha, looking at it now it would seme confusing, lol. My first post was only your quote, to emphasis it. Then I edited it to avoid double posting. Didn't even occur to me that it may not be seen that way.

Posting a pure quote doesn't seem like emphasis, makes you look like an inter-noob who accidentally posted before typing.  Seems most people on the B12 forums quote, and follow it with "This."

Some giant animals will breed. I bought a pair of giant lions from the elves and I have about 5 cubs now. They seem to take forever to mature though.

Take a look at their raws - do they have [PET] or [PET_EXOTIC]?
