You can't be beating a dead horse if it's moving and groaning and trying to eat your brains, right? Obviously not a dead horse, so let's beat it harder.

I quite likeds the demo, - is was like a pleasant mix of Homeworld: Cataclysm and Starscape.

Brave little miners venturing out towards the galactic core on a ship which by all rights would be a death-trap by any sane standards, only to end up screwing up more than they can handle, then somehow figure out how to deal with it. Bootstrapping everything as they learn to become warriors.

It looks pretty good from what I've seen. And I find it incredibly silly that people are saying 10 dollars is a good price but 15 is too much.

Five bucks too much.

That's like, the price of a sandwich.

I've stretched that $5 into ~4-5 good (or at least enough-to-last-till-next-eating) meals :-\ Cheapo box of mac'n'cheese is ~$0.90 around here, and a good bag of rice is about 4 bucks, as an alternative.

Sometimes the sandwich is what breaks the camel's back. There is a point for most things where it starts getting to cost more than it's (seen to be) worth. Gotta' pick that price at some point.

After all, $20 is only a sandwich away from  $15, $25 from $20, $30 from $25, etc. $15 USD seems just a little much for beta access, or at least is more than I'd pay.

Though I guess it's irrelevant in m'case, hum. Terraria's getting my 3 months not-food, not-essentials money :P

Impulse buy territory used to be anything under $20 for me. Now it's anything under $10. The economy has hit my entire region really damn hard, it's like this for nearly everyone near me (if they can buy entertainment stuff at all, most can't anymore). I know some of you pay $5 for a burger (?), but for for me that's an entire meal (which I need to live on) at least.

Just sayin'. For perspective and all.

Another kind of silly point: $15 is half again as much as $10. It's actually substantially more expensive when you look at it as a percentage.

Not trying to argue here. SPAZ is a really cool game, and I think it's a lot of fun. The Penny Arcade article was good, points out that people are a lot less stingy with their money when going out with friends / passing the local Taco Bell than they are sitting at home with their PC. I'm sure any one of us could get into the psychology of that at depth, but I'm not qualified to do so.

For SPAZ: I'm pretty early in the game, but I like the Tug ship (two missiles and one medium turret + 2 module slots) the best so far. Which makes me kind of sad. I have two other mediums, including the Hound (which I thought would be an upgrade), but I end up preferring the Tug anyway.

Starting to unlock a large, hoping for good things. BACK TO THE GAME!

If I just got crysis and crysis warhead for a total of 7 bucks fifty on steam, and my current fav games are DF (donation), Ace of spades (donation), Caves of Qud (donation), Team fortress 2 (10 bucks 1500+ hrs)  I cant really justify spending $25 on a game like this, but then again, im dirt poor (im this country at least).

Also:   There are no Dark Dwarves in Dwarf fortress.  Its an armok damned elf humping conspiracy if it is anything

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

I can confirm that this game is indeed a gem. It's deeper than a casual game, but more immediately gratifying than a deep game.

Yup. I shall buy it when it's off impulse.

I know it doesn't belong to stardock anymore, but I really don't want anything to do with stardock or what once was stardock's. :P

I'll also happily add my 2cents and mention this game has given me hours of enjoyment already ... hours I didn't have to spare even  :o

Give the demo a whirl if you are doubting, but its a gem in it's genre, which by itself is rare. (Dunno if this is still the case, the demo is of a somewhat older build - the beta has way more options)

Their forums are also worth visiting, the dev's are active and at the very least you will see mods picking up and answering questions&threads.
