Natasha speeds past the roadblock, and ends up damaging herself. She gets stunned.

This probably wasn't me, Desmond thinks. I don't even have claws. That one they found in the park yesterday, though...empty sack of flesh, bones sucked of marrow...he probably did that one.

He doesn't have a bone to pick with other things like him. They better stay the Hell away, though.

He wonders if the tip was large enough for the cabbie to stick around like he asked. In his estimation, the enticement of extra money vs what they surely must know will happen if they allow him back in the cab is the only way he could be considered merciful.

Just drive away...just drive away and I'll choose someone else...

Get back in the cab if it's still there, or hail another, and contnue moving to my Dead Man's Hang

The cab is there. The cabbie attempts to make very awkward and stilted small talk.

Dead Man's hang is a very long way to walk. It is best to stay for a while.

((Just trying to connect everyone.))

Desmond tries to enjoy the ride. He says to the cab driver "You like your job? Wouldn't you rather been somewhere else this time of night? I know I would, but work is work, right?". Smile. Remember to smile...

The driver looks nervous, but grins and bears it.

"Oh, yeah. It's...Kinda bad around these parts. You know...It's...Bad...Like, the Indians never...Visited. They said it was...Cursed."

"Cursed, yeah? I don't believe in that shit. Have a nice night." Smile

Desmond lets the cabbie drive away, against his better (worse?) judgement. He's got a job now...yeah, can't make a mess here. Just kill some time...yeah, kill. But he is hungry...

and the hunger he feels is much worse than it was before. He was hungry before-grumble, grumble, feed me, goes the stomach-you could ignore that.

This hunger, feels like your being burned alive from the inside. All you need to make it go away is one...live...person...says something to you, asks you for a light, how's it going buddy? Deep down, they want you to do it. So he does.

Arraris Shrugged out his shoulders, he'd forgotten to leave the lights on when he went to bed. Yeah for a person like him sleeping with the lights on was a mite of discomfiture, but it beat the hell out of drooling on the bed with half of his mouths and sleeping with the other half open. After waking up a little and feeling vaguely more... human? (A funny and singularly inapplicable turn of phrase, perhaps it would be better to say that he felt more like himself.)

He found the note. He read it. He read it again, he turned it over to see if there was anything written on the other side. "What melodramatic piece of shit thinks this was a smart idea?" Arraris mumbled to himself, stuffing the letter into a pocket. After waking up a little more and imbibing some of the truly terrible instant coffee he kept in the cabinet he felt ready to get out, move around, and maybe eat something or someone. He slipped on his greatcoat, making sure his new shotgun and antique sword were riding in easy reach and out of site.

He walked out of the building, humming 'somewhere over the rainbow' as he mulled over the letter. It was short and to the point, to a fault actually. There was no call back number, no name, no time that he should meet them there, just a location that was out of his way. Well, if they weren't going to care about giving him decent information then you wouldn't care about making this a priority.

Walk across town roughly towards the Hang, don't bother to get a cab. Keep an ear out for anything interesting/tasty.

Hmm. Something very juicy. Arraris cannot pick the source, but the voice is clear.

"Hey, did you hear about that murder near Dead Man's Hang? They say some sort of inbred hick family lives near there. Maybe they have something to do with it."

Something darts out of his field of vision.

Hicks, if those inbred piglets had been the ones to slip him a note he wouldn't even bother eating them. Good as volunteer them for something else eating them yes, but junk food was bad for- what?

Remain still, attempt to get a glimpse of whatever just moved across my vision. Put hand into coat and prepare to draw shotgun. If nothing can be detected after five minutes then keep walking but keep ready to draw the hand-cannon. Being careful doesn't hurt.

The glimpse becomes something recongizable.

A suit, mostly. Very tall. Very very tall. Can't see the face, too blurry. But now you know this man's suit. Hmm.

He had nothing better to do other than follow up on a pair of sentences for no promise of reward, following the suit sounded more interesting right now. Much more interesting. People like him tended to avoid each other, people might laugh at the stories of twenty foot tall boogeymen that gobbled skulls, but too many like him in one spot and the food got the jitters. Still, interesting business was unearthed by his varied brethren, and he felt lucky tonight.

Follow the suit, corner step through buildings if necessary.

He stopped once he saw who he was chasing after.

No face. No eyes, no lips no hope.

NOTHING

NOTHINGNOTHINGNOTHINGNOTHINGNOTHINGNOTHING!

Arraris falls over, and gains a condition. -1 to all activities. The suit is long gone.

He...He was so inhuman! At least Arraris could pretend. This...This was truly something else. Something terrifyingly unknown. A normal very tall man with no face.

He looked very thin though...Arraris had the thing's name on the tip of his tongue.

Well that was unsettling... Arraris leaned back and groaned and pressed the heels of his hands into his face, making a mental note to kick himself the next time he felt lucky. He shook his head trying to clear out the sensations, right now this was real. Real enough to get the fuck away from. He needed something to eat, something to calm his nerves. Chinese if he could find it, but anyone else would do in a pinch.

Snag a bite to eat down a dark alley somewhere, someone who wouldn't be missed.
