How do you mine in aquifers?

Hello! I've been digging and digging on different places, but i can't even get down to level 2 because it's canceled with damp stone.

What you want to do is breach the aquifier from above and then drop dirt into it so you can dig through the aquifier.

Dig down to the z level above the aquifier. Dig out a square section then channel out a square in the middle so that it looks like a room with a pool in it.

o = aquifier water
x = dry ground

Channel out a square directly above the pool, the same size as the pool you channeled. In the z levels above so the squares of dirt from those z levels fall into the aquifier pool you made below.

You can then dig out the dirt which has fallen into the pool. !!! You can only dig out the dirt in the center of the pool, the sides are holding the aquifiers water back!!!

Just noticed that you said you cant get to level 2 - Make shitty crafts until you can trade for stone. Make pumps. pump out a small pool and wall off the sides so you can get below. Youll need a few pumps to pump more water out than is coming in from the aquifier.

Alternatevely save yourself a hernia and abandon. Seems like alot of trouble.
