Makes the future of bethesda (Zenimax, actually) shooters look bleak. I swear to god, if they botch up DooM 4...

All the mechanic's etcetara look pretty cool, but honestly...

... I'm just a sucker for customizable characters in online shooters. :P I loved MGO heaps!

I agree with you, as the whole gimmick of sliding around like a cheesey Taiwanese District 13 (or wheveter it is called) is exactly just that a gimmick.  I totally dig the customization thing as well.

I guess the more I play the more I am liking it, I was thinking there would be more of a epic Fallout 3 but in a Oblivion type open world single player game.  Which would have rocked, shame on me for not looking past the Bethesda name.

Found a pretty good performance tweak until the big patch next week. It seems the game is hard coded to run at a cap of 30fps regardless of what it tells you in-game or fraps.

also, make sure you force vertical sync off as well as ambient occlusion. I'm getting muh better performance already.

Heh, so far it seems I'm only good at medic.  My score is usually pretty mediocre most of the time, but if I play medic I'm almost always at the top of the list.   :P  Anybody have any favorite guns yet?  I'm liking the Galactic SMG, but I'm still pretty undecided about the assault rifles.

50% more fun? What did they add, besides fixing graphics?

improved graphics performance resulted in a 100% decrease in me screaming at the random slowdowns which translates to a 50% increase in overall fun. I should have clarified originally.

So I'm one of the unfortunate ATI users who get ~20 FPS when playing, but I'm still enjoying the game. Played a few matches on a Norwegian server this morning and my enjoyment skyrocketed up from the really mediocre single player. When playing with a competent team the game is amazing, it's very balanced and teamwork is most definitely required to succeed.

Favourite classes thus far is medic and engineer, but I should really try to use the operative a bit more, it might be interesting with the shotgun...

Right now I'm using the latest (11.5a I think, the one with the hotfix). At first I was ready to roll back since I got worse performance with it, but then I read some post on the steam forums suggesting to disable the catalyst AI. So I did that and now I get more or less the same performance as I did with the old driver. I'm wondering whether it's worth the hassle to clean up the new drivers and try old ones for the chance that I'll get a performance increase...

To be honest, I'm not quite sure exactly how well my computer is supposed to run it, my Radeon HD 4800 card is not the most top of the line, but I suppose it's not too shabby either.

i'm running on HD3870 x2, so if you have nothing better to do, rolling back might be worth it. I'm getting 66fps indoors.

Hm, maybe I'll try. I have a laptop that needs reformatting anyway, so I can do that simultaneously.

Steam forums suggest catalyst 11.2, I guess I'll try that one.
