Do dangerous creatures (such as a skeletal cave crocodile, or any other sort of dwarf genocider) get a special name when it kills a few dwarves? I've noticed a few creatures that butchered some of my population gained a name.

Yes, although I believe that's to any kills and any living thing. Your dwarves get nicknames after a certain number of kills, and so do animals and goblins.

a capybara once got a name for herself, it was not the giant variation... it was an army of marksdwarfs without bolts...

she killed 4 of them before i giving up on that fort after that...

she would grab a let and pull it off, then repeat on the next one as the first would bleed out... wish i had a holy hand grenade

If an animal kills 2 dwarves, it gets a name for its infamy.
If one of your dwarves kills 5 names sentients/megabeasts, they get a title for their awesome.

Animals can gain titles too if they kill enough - though it may need to be civ members not just any kills.

Pretty sure it's just killing 1 dwarf.

Unnamed critters get a normal name ("Bob") after killing a named creature like a dwarf. After 5 named kills, creatures (who by that point all have names whether they started with one or not) get a title. ("Bob the Incontinent Frilly Glove of Dashing")

Haha awesome, thanks. Dwarves get titles too? That might make sense, my guard captain went on a 'justice spree' and put down all the tantruming/insane militia. And he has a title now i guess.

They're ALL mean. One of my starting seven looked at a giant honey badger wrong once. Short time later, six of them was dead, the other one was missing an arm and a leg. And he was a craftsdwarf.

Yeah...

Well lets just hope his name is Urist Stark, and he crafts himself an Iron Dwarf suit, to take revenge on the honey badgers for good.
