Shashmomuz: Where Dwarfs Are Not Expendable (Succession)
« on: May 08, 2011, 05:15:21 pm »

It has come to my attention that most fortresses are abandoned due to FPS rather than Fun.  The aim is to combine the tension of early and mid gameplay with the late game quality of a developed fortress.

I want turn 3.  :)

Since we're not going to have a lot of dwarfs, can we make the embark 3x3 at least?

I want to play. Will be my first Succession, if you don't mind.
I'll go 2nd.
I want the military dwarf (any military skill, you choose.)

So now all we've got to do is to put a couple of grannies into the LHC and smash them against each other at relativistic speeds. Lather, rinse, repeat until we got results.

also i am not so good with sortcuts
what does TBA mean?
and about killing the other immigrants, your thinking about locking them up and let them starve.
this means that we need a lot of coffins.

or will you edit the game so only 1 immigrant will come each year

what do postdwarvenists do with goblins?

Quote from: Andreus
We slaughter them by the thousands.
But... you know, we do it ironically.

I vote editing, if possible.  Killing migrants leads to a fortress clogged with ghosts and coffins, as I know well.

Posting to follow, may ask for a turn later :)

How you ensure that only one dwarf joins the fortress is up to the player.  I'm going to use the population cap during my turn.

Yeah, 'cause the pop cap is actually a cap... oh wait...

(The second someone puts the cap over 7 [even if it's just to 8], you'll get a 20+ migrant wave inbound. I exaggerate slightly, but only slightly.)

The fortress won't be growing for the first 6 turns, so we'll be using it there.  After that we'll have to kill any extras, unless there's an editing tool I'm not aware of.

You can use RuneSmith to set the flags on the unwanted migrants to "Left Map", it seems to make dwarves disappear without triggering ghosts.

Or you could set up a (very large) hall of records with one engraved slab for every migrant you kill.

Ideally after encasing said migrant in a block of obsidian, and then using that exact block to carve the slab.
