I was thinking the same about the LHC suicides.  World ends slowly, then you save yourself the fate of waiting for the disaster to affect your part of the planet.  World ends too quickly for you to take such measures and you're probably instantly dead anyway.

Rapture-Day suicides seem like they almost entirely involve people who have picked up on the "The World Will End" bit but have no hope or expectation that they're good enough to be officially Saved...  Either that, or have a subtly different take on whether or not Him Upstairs will grant suicides a plot of land in the afterlife village.

(At least the Space Comet People-type mass suicides don't have an anti-suicide clause in the manifesto their All Powerful Guy is supposed to have...  They're usually seem to be dealing with the idea that they are 'trapped' in a Better Than Life-type VR environment where they have to use the End Game condition to get Back To Reality and out of the game...)

They might think it shows their "faith" (obviously their faith towards Camping rather than God, but...).

Incidentally, yeah, him disappearing off the face of the earth around now is definitely his best move.

The other suicide though, was legit.

I think they operate on the assumption that they are facing a less pleasant death experience, which is best avoided.

That's kind of stupid, as explained in This Clip (Skip to minute 3:41)


...Also, isn't suicide supposed to be a mortal sin or something?
