That sounds like something I would do as a god.

Hell, as a super-villain even. Get "defeated" wait until a great big celebration of peace is at hand (cheerful, musical, Disney-like), and then nuke them from orbit or unleash Hell when they're defenseless and least expecting it.

EDIT:
Did it to a nice setup I had in Sim City 4. Got it nice, big, thriving, happy, and then every bad thing you can think of happened simultaneously, starting with a volcano swallowing the power plants that power the city and tornadoes and lightning hitting all the clinics/hospitals.

I already had the locust plague hit my town, with lovebugs. They polluted the beach with all their little corpses a week later. Now they're black sand particles.

I wonder what that means?

If you get to have a lame omen like that I get to share my much more radical omen:

Late last night we went out in the forest to find some extremely rare blue fireflies that have only been found in a few places. Except that instead of flashing, they emit a pulsating yet constant intense blue glow (a lot like Navi in OOT). We saw that instead of a few batches here in there, they were covering every step and square foot of thin air in the entire area we explored. We couldn't get pictures of them very well, but my dad managed to get a slow exposure shot of one, though it's not very good.

I think I understand what is meant by "The meek shall inherit the Earth." now. We go bye bye as humans, and all the creatures we've been farming (and hunting to extinction), and the land we've been forming to our own means will rise up and take our place. The meek are those that have been rare to the point of exctinction by our hands. They're telling us that the favor will be returned.

We're fucked.


EDIT:
Regarding "Life After Humans", even with us gone, the meek will still have craptons of problems left behind by us, and if not maintained, will probably be our last fuck over to them post-rapture.

Now comes the thought of how God will judge us, and the ratios of people going to Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory. I think the end result will not be too surprising, depending on viewpoint.
