Yes, like it says in 2 Peter 3:10, the Rapture will come like a "thief in the night", ie a surprise you didnt see coming, when you least expected it.

BTW, this thread is rather offensive.

I don't find it all too offensive. Silly, yes. Offensive, no. And I'm the religious type too. Then again, maybe I don't make such a big deal out of these things (anymore). Then again, maybe I also kinda humanize God quite a bit much to the point of believing that the reason the world hasn't ended yet is because He's been procrastinating and putting it off. There's a reason even His son doesn't even know when the end is. Maybe stopped caring about it as well. Apparently, only mortals really worry about their end in these regards to the point of practically making appointments for an end.

EDIT:
Come to think of my post, I think I made humanity out to be a deathseeking/suicidal (maybe even masochistic) race.

EDIT EDIT:
Newton said that the apocalypse wouldn't be till 2060 at the earliest, and he gave us awesome math, so i doubt he would be wrong.
Newton. That's right. Thank you. I knew it had to be some math wiz that did something like that. Considering our rate of acquiring resources, waste decay rates and etc. that actually sounds most plausible a time frame anyhow.

EDIT EDIT EDIT:
Furthermore, I doubt we're all gonna die. I think it would be more like God dropping a massive EMP on all of our technology, restoring things during our chaos, and we're set back to ²1 again.

To whom? The people who believe it, or the people who don't?

What do you find offensive?
Is it the fact that people finds the fact that other people believe the world will end on the 21st (for no reason besides some numerical tricks) hilarious?

Well crap, there go my 2012 doomsday party plans.

EDIT:
Plus, in another document (Jefferson or someone who was a greater doomsday nut) gave us at least another 50-300 years until our doom.
Newton said that the apocalypse wouldn't be till 2060 at the earliest, and he gave us awesome math, so i doubt he would be wrong.

Actually, the world is really going to end on July 5th.

Why would it be a specific day of the Gregorian calendar then?  If anything, that would make it more likely to know the year but not the day.  Unless the time-window of the Final Day only caught part of the newspaper's date and the year was obscured.

People are already connecting Everybody Draw Mohammed Day 2011 to this, as it is scheduled for May 20th. Most are being satirical about it, some are not.

I am suprised at how many billboards I'm seeing for this latest apocalypse, though.

There was a detailed explanation, but unfortunately my non-mainstream religion's prophet has a pretty serious drinking and drug-abuse problem and he blacked it out, all he could remember was the month in our system and the year in theirs.

Two days before my birthday. How could you do this to me?

As for on topic...Er.
I don't think the world's gunna end. I think it's the consensus here... So I've not put too much thought into any points about it.

Which worlds are ending again?
All of them. Andrew Hussie is going to end Homestuck with one epic, massive, yet mildly disappointing flash, and everything will explode from the awesome. Then
Jesus'll be there with a baby in his hands wrapped in an American flag with jets flying in the background saying

"Don't do methamphetamines kids."
