On that note, did you know that US military personal are authorized up to and including deadly force against US military forces who are attempting suicide? Seems to be the same principle.

I bet that's in there for people who are doing it in a way that'll endanger their comrades.  Shoot a guy before he blows himself up or disable/kill him before he shoots himself in a sensitive situation and causes a ruckus.
