 Well, since there seems to be a lack of demonic armies and earthquakes I suppose nothing is going to happen today. I found out today that my aunt actually bought into this, or atleast thats what my mom said. I hope she was just screwing with her...

Well, disappointingly so, I got ascended, or shall I say descended into Hell, only to get regurgitated back here. First off, it seems Earth is a worse place to be, and plus, Hell is packed like sardines.

The demons there were surprisingly refined and not so flesh-ripping and mind-flayingly terrible beasties we were taught as kids. Then again, they also hate their job. Same old crap. Might as well be working a market or a fast food restaurant or post office.

Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of fallout for people holding stock in this. I hope they don't take it too badly, and get help.

I never did get why people would put any faith into God doing something this big or tangible even when I was a Catholic. There has been no indication that if there is a God, he's inclined to do anything at all. Hasn't yet, certainly.

You're reminding me of the opening monologue in Bring Me the Head of Prince Charming

My thought on "The End of the World as We Know It." is that God will just up and abandon us and leave us to our own devices out of frustration. In other words, God's final days with us will be just that: "Screw everyone, I'm leaving. Beer's in the fridge, goodbye.".

In that regard, I think Heaven is included with Purgatory, Hell, and the Mortal Realm in regards to annoying-ass spoiled brats of people. For an eternal unconditionally loving being such as Him, it's about time He snapped. I'm a rather decent person myself, and even I have limits. To be a nice guy 24/7 for years on end, I would kill myself out of boredom and frustration.

I'd prefer a "I lived through the Apocalypse and all I got was this t-shirt" shirt.

I think that's why in the Old Testament he gets pissed off every so often and starts sending floods and burning hailstones and stuff. In fact, having spoiled brats aroud to do that kind of stuff to might even help; In the words of G. Gordon Gordon, "Where indeed would The Lord be without the human race to torment and pester? I put it to you that the old chiseler would be pretty damn bored if there was nothing more interesting than seraphim, and cherubim, and namby-pamby flaming angels harping about and trumpeting all day, you can bank on that."

I'm glad I could spend the end of the world watching anime by myself, while enjoying ice cream cookie sandwiches.

I know of one doomsday prediction that did come true however.

Sometime before his death, over a decade ago, the Reverend Doctor Jesse Sump prophecied:

"In the End Times it shall come to pass that they are NOT the End Times;
and neither shall they cast out the false prophets;
But the same old shit, yea, and rumors of the same old shit;
shall continue, even unto Eternity.

I guess it's time to bring on the next apocalypse. What is that, the "OMFG I don't understand the Mayan calendar, we're all gonna die in 2012!!!!11!!" one?

Yes, I think you summed it up right. 2012 is definitely the "!!11!!ONEONEONE!" end of the world scenario, because it could be literally anything, from a meteor wiping out the Bible Belt to and earth shattering kaboom orchestrated by some space aliens to Sarah Palin saying something I can understand. This is, if it happens.

For the moment.
