Unless it was changed during the past month, NPC's don't starve normally. Whenever their hunger drops below a certain threshold* it will start to go up again automatically even if they don't have any food in their inventory. The only exception, that I know, is when (and for as long as) they are captured in one of the player's cages where they need manual feeding.

*Said threshold depends on the NPC's class, for starving bandits it's ~100 or 150 and for Dust Bandits ~200.

So the conclusion I'm getting here is that we use QSPs because dwarves can't pilot submarines.

Huh, I always assumed those are new spawns.  My prisoners always starved, so eh.

EDIT
When training a fresh archer squad on the go, you might not want to outfit them with good weapons.  Additionally, harpoon resistance on everyone anywhere near the action.

My experience was that people would come in and buy at first, but then stop buying as they ran out of money; despite being in the UC where money is everything.

So I found this, which gives NPCs income and buying habits depending on their class.

Strangely enough, no one bought my hashish.

First ever encounter with one of the hazards.

Nearly lost some people.  Especially when I inadvertently camped still-within-the-danger-zone to recover from the damage.  Well, I did lose most of my mercenary escort, 1 random thug made it.  I am never cutting through that area unprepared ever again.

I bought this back in 2014, but haven't really played before now. I set up an outpost in Shem near the edge of the swamp. Nobody ever comes to buy anything, despite nomad caravans passing through. So are the caravan ranges extremely short or something? The game should really warn you if your base is located too far away from trading.

Sure, I can carry stuff myself to sell, but eh. I liked the idea of visitors.

Can anyone explain to me why I can't repair a robotic prosthetic limb? I have a skeleton repair kit, the damaged limb is at -12, when hovering over the health it says there are 9 points of wear damage, and yet I cannot repair the limb. I've tried setting the guy to the medic job and manually selecting him but there is no first aid option.

EDIT: Upon further inspection, it seems the leg is slowly starting to heal by itself..... I don't recall them doing that.

I think you need to use a skeleton repair bed to fix wear on prosthetics.

Yes, you need a special bed for special boys. You can usually find them in Tech/Mechanics shops in most cities and in Tech Hunter Outposts.

The raid system is kind of silly in the sense that if you leave your base completely unmanned, nobody goes there to steal shit. That means you don't need to hire mercenaries to protect it while you are gone or leave anyone on watch. I had been planning to hire skeletors and leave them in base since they don't heal. But leaving them in base makes the base vulnerable to raids while bulk of my dudes are gone... It is kind of unintuitive.

That said, I really like the game world.

I get why they did it though. The game world is so huge, there's no way you could effectively explore and maintain a safe base at the same time. It was only after the gate HP mod and about 4 upgraded crossbows that I could more or less leave my base to defend itself. It's unintuitive, yeah. But maybe you're supposed to have bases be more like base camps for extended exploration than "towns" ya know. The game can do both I suppose.

Yeah, I get the reason while it was done and it allows playing as nomads, which is sort of cool too. Just pluck down a house with a few beds, a stove, a well and a couple of fields here and there, then move between the bases as your journeys take you. I think unwalled houses might be defensible if you put crossbows on roofs. But I certainly play with mod that increases gate/wall strength, gates are ridicilously flimsy (for their appearance) in vanilla.

No like I said it only had 9 points of wear on the leg. I cannot heal it from negative with a repair kit.

I don't think you understand what my problem here is. I can only state so many times that there was only 9 points of wear on the leg. That shouldn't prevent me from doing normal repairs on it.
