What should the main party look like?

Ragnar - Sorta detective noir, with a battleaxe
Alena - Can punch through five feet of solid stone, and gets Jessica in a way the other heroes really don't.
Cristo - Awkward but powerful.  Could be the strongest character of all if he'd just stop being an idiot.
Brey - There's a reason for that!  Hope you like exposition...
Taloon - Three words: merchant ninja army
Mara - Can set anything on fire, up to and including lava golems
Nara - I still haven't shown off the Silver Tarot Cards, have I?  Pick her, they're pretty great.
Jessica - She's the Legendary Hero, but you technically don't have to use her if you don't want.

Has to do with the lighting and stuff. Makes a whole lot of difference :)

Boats in DW4 are able to automatically resize themselves to suit their environments; we'll see concrete evidence of this ability midway through Chapter 5.  This explains, perhaps, why they're so much rarer than in our world; they're probably pretty hard to make and I bet it's damn disconcerting to be inside one when enters a cavern.

I like pretty much everything you've been doing. You have a good number of pictures/amount of text, a good balance of humor and actual game plot, and you keep us informed without spoiling much if anything. Nice work!

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Agreed- funny, well-written, with a good screenshot/text ratio. Better still, you don't have to have played DW4 to understand what is going on or how everything works- I've always found that to be a sign of a superior LP.

Haha agreed. Having done an LP (until recently... it's coming back, I swear! Right after real life stops making me write constantly) I know how hard it can be to get an update out, though.

Indeed, I am thoroughly enjoying this LP so far. I almost wanna play it myself, but I don't wanna ruin the rest watching this.

...And I still need to finish DW2 and 3 ::). Although I'm not sure if there's any canon between them all(there is between DW1 and 2).

Canonically, DW 1-3 make up the Erdrick/Loto Trilogy. DW 4-6 are a new trilogy. The continuity is pretty loose though, so you can take it or leave it.

Fjords, you're doing a great job so far. :)  The only thing I miss from your LP so far is DW 4's great music. I suppose it's a necessary evil, but I still miss it. Especially with Aktemto, the theme is beautiful, sad, and really drives home the mournful atmosphere.

BTW, did you walk over to check out the corpse by the pond? It's another detail in the cavalcade of depression that is Aktemto, and the end of Chapter 4 in general. (Orin...!  :'()

Still, the best is yet to come in Chapter 5.

Oh good.  One of my major goals in doing this LP was to show off the game to people who'd never played it, but everyone posting seemed to be DW fans already so I wasn't sure how well it was working.

I went looking before I started the thread, but there don't seem to be any good music archives like there are for later games.  The best I could find were the midi arrangements on vgmusic, which aren't that high-quality.

I didn't; I assumed it did the same thing as all the other corpses we met during that expedition.  Should I go back to visit in Chapter 5?

Anyway, who's ready for the start of Chapter 5?
