Is it possible to win hfs in battle or are their numbers unlimited? do they attack continiously or will they rest their wounds sometimes

Their numbers are infinite, but after the initial wave (from disturbing their home) they'll only arrive in small groups at the map edge, much like wildlife.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Like the inhabitants of Rainbow Mushroom Land, clowns will periodically spawn, but only in waves like the previous poster said.

If you link up Clown Land with Rainbow Mushroom Land, their inhabitants will always fight each other and effectively your work is cut by that much.

Because of the 100+ clowns spawning at once, plus their pathfinding.

So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

I suspect that it's because they're all BUILDINGDESTROYERS. Each demon paths to every single destroyable building (of which you likely have dozens) simultaneously, which eats far more computational cycles than normal pathfinding does. If you mod in a BUILDINGDESTROYER:2 sieging race, you'll get similar massive FPS drop when they siege.

It can't just be the large numbers of enemies who spawn when you open the circus, because a large 5+ squad siege can have more creatures coming for you than the circus brings about. The buildingdestroyer problem, though, would explain it adequately.

Also, the fact that they all fly could have an impact on their FPS footprint.

I think there's a bug that causes animals/dwarfs to pathfind open spaces anyway, so that may not be as much of a problem.

mmm, I recommend a danger room to get legendary +5 dwarves

Actually, don't
that makes things too easy
I once watched in vague amusement as a pair of Axe Lords wiped out the entire wave of HFS
... All they had was a masterwork steel axe and a wooden shield... =/

Hehe, and I just watched my enire axe suqad (armed with cotton candy axes and amror, mind you) get beaten by 1 single goblin hammer lord with a masterwork silver war hammer. Luckily they only broke lots of bones and no heads. So they are healing up again. Had to assing my two other squads to kill the goblin before he got to my dining room.

Skill is very importent it seems.

But I do not get this:

Clown Land I think I am familiar with, but not Rainbow Mushroom Land, can anyone explain that? ;)

Rainbow Mushroom Land is the HFS you'll find at the top end of the world instead of at the bottom

Interesting. So I need to build some towers then? :)

Edit: Is there a wiki article?
