I'm trying to imagine a =Horse Leather Miniforge=

You can get things that cloth and leather can be made into. I don't think the leather miniforge is possible without a weird mood.

When you ask for cloth/leather crafts, you get earrings, amulets, and bracelets (and possibly some of the other crafts) - the same ones you can make yourself at a craftsdwarf's workshop. Instruments and toys are not crafts, so you won't get them - they're actually in a separate category altogether, and it won't let you request ones made from soft materials.
