Increased Badger Population
« on: May 07, 2011, 12:32:32 am »

I'm trying to make my badgers "better" and have already made them war trainable. The next step is to increase the population.

Much like the cliff racers from Morrowind, I oddly enjoy the badger overpopulation. I wish to expand it further. As I am only a pre-beginning modder, I have no clue where to go. Rather than spend lots of time right now to go learn about all of the raws, I thought I'd ask some more experienced of the community.

So I ask: What's the best way to raise the badger population at my fortresses? Doubling the count or so would be nice; what tag(s) in the raws would allow me to do this? Any other suggestions are very much appreciated.

Do you want larger conga's or do you want a higher maximum badgerlocity?

Both.
I suppose they would have separate tags; I didn't consider that.

Multiple conga lines at once would be nice, but dozens of badgers in the train would have the most menacing effect, and is thus more important.

But, whatever will give me more badgers best is really what I'm looking for.

Change population number [POPULATION_NUMBER:10:20] to [POPULATION_NUMBER:200:300] so you can have a maximum of 200-300 on your biome at once. (Even in captivity they will only breed to the maximum amount. Badgers in nature will go extinct in that biome if they get killed 200-300 times in the wild with these settings)

Change cluster number from [CLUSTER_NUMBER:4:12] to [CLUSTER_NUMBER:50:100] to have massive badger levels colliding with your fortress.

Done. Thanks! Genning a new world soon to test. Should be pretty amazing.

I think I'll leave the giant badgers, badger men, and honey badgers alone. They scare me enough as is.

More like badger-plosions.

Sounds killer on your FPS, and your dwarves for that matter.
