Embodiment of the concept of coup de grâce?

My answer to just about everything is magma. In fact, most threads end up with me running in screaming it

Pretty much, the weird thing is that I think of Armok as this after awhile. I also have the god of luck and games.

So I guess it's the gambler's patron Deity?  :P

the Capitalism god.

I've got Teshkad (Price), the West Way of Wealth. Pretty apt.

My favorite because it is the most visually evocative, however, is ékil Calledmines the Fair Sculpture, deity of mountains, earth, volcanos, fire, the sun. And, presumably, MAGMA.

The expedition leader of my rat men worships Sod (Mist?) the Obscure Evil of Dreams, the deity of theft, and Ushrir (Quake), the deity of nightmares. To a certain degree, I think they got the names backwards. Other noteworthy objects of worship include Ninur (Escort), the deity of fortresses;  Zekrim (Snot), the deity of discipline, order, duty, and muck; Rashgur (Attack) Prestigecastles the Lash of Certainty, the deity of death, war, and victory; and Elcur (Plague) Eelblack, the deity of torture and blight. Wooo, rat people!

There you have it! The Sun is not as bad as everyone thinks, this god proves it!
The sun is a colossal floating sphere of pure magma!  :o

Actually, the sun is a giant thermonuclear catsplosion that takes roughly 15 billion years to run its course. That's why it turns into a white dwarf when it dies. There are no supernovas.

In dwarf fortress, all the stars are main sequence stars, formed from the apocalypse of worldgen. in the end times, the cat population becomes so high, it creates a nuclear reaction which destroys all life in the world and ignites the planet into the next sun. This in turn causes another world to be created by Armok. This cycle of events ensures that technology will never evolve too far for the 10,000 years of the planet's lifecycle, and that there will be a controllable genocide to prevent overpopulation. Because intelligence never evolves or disintegrates, dwarves have knowledge of this event, which is why they want to be constantly drunk and have a sun phobia; it only reminds them of their world's inevitable fate. And Snowball.
