Am I missing something here? As long as my dwarfs have enough cabinets in their rooms they seem to always wear the new clothes that I make. If I don't have enough cabinets they leave their old ones in random places until I build more... Do they stop gathering clothes if I leave my fortress running long enough?
Toady released a new version last year around this time. You should try it some time.

I'm with Jetriot on this one. I thought my dorfs went collectivly crazy(ier) when all of a sudden they all took their pants off and left them scattered about on the ground. Upon investigation they had replaced the discarded apparel with new pants, fresh from the clothier. 31.25 so, what up here?

The main points of the clothing industry are cloaks and cash.
and correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt a leather cloak work better than a cloth one?
That being said, i deck ALL my soldiers out in the highest quality silk clothing  underneath their armor, just cause i THINK it might help absorb some impact.

My preference for hoods/cloaks in uniforms is:

1 silk hood, 1 cloth hood, 1 leather hood
1 silk cloak, 1 cloth cloak, 1 leather cloak

The reason for this is that if I have 30 dwarves that need cloaks, and I have 30 leather, 10 silk and 10 cloth, it will ensure that all 30 dwarves are wearing at least a leather cloak (with 10 dwarves having the full complement).  If I just let the dwarves pick *any* material cloak and tell them to wear 3, then only the first 16 dwarves end up with cloaks.

I haven't actually reached the point where clothes start falling off since .31.25 was released... I shall have to investigate.

...And no one notices that a desert titan is made out of ice. No, ice capybara in the desert? Normal. Someone kinda figured out the military? Amazing!

I have a limited cloth industry for bags, socks, ropes, military uniforms (with not enough leather), and whatever else I need at the moment. I don't grow cloth, in fact my pig tails are for brewing. I buy my cloth, dye and thread from caravans.
