Dwarfiest Person you know?
« on: May 06, 2011, 12:48:44 pm »

As the title says, who is the dwarfiest person you know?

For me, it would have to be my grandfather. During WWII, he was living on a farm in the middle of nowhere and grew potatoes (Bloated Tubers). He also had to butcher cats because they would breed like crazy and slow movement, which would make some people there sad. Don't forget, he is a master woodcrafter, metalcrafter, and mechanic!
:))

EDIT: Oh yeah, and he's an alcoholic.

Realistically, my grandmother.  She's gone senile, and taken a new, younger (65 year old) boyfriend while her husband is in a nursing home.  She regularly disappears for days on cross-country trips with this guy, is prone to ignoring her diabetes and almost dying, and generally requires a lot of supervision and causes innumerable headaches.  All things considered, very dwarfy.

Dwarf Fortress: You have a team of hundreds working for four years to make a game where you save the world again. We have one guy for four years make a near-infinite world generator, write the physics, generate histories, form detailed descriptions of every human, elf, dwarf, and goblin generated, caverns, and huge randomly generated monsters made out of who knows what. You. guys. suck.

Them's some hella dorfy humans, there!

Also, probably my own dad, or our neighbor. Both have a tendency to plan and build things seemingly at random; the neighbor builds more stuff, but my dad enjoys creative destruction and explosions. We once had a window of glass to be scrapped. Instead of safely breaking it with a hammer or something, he decided that we should prop it up in our carport and throw stones at it. Fun, but deafeningly loud. My ears rang and hurt afterwards. :P (also our other neighbor popped up to check out what the hell was going on)

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then youkill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.
Dwarf Fortress: So horrifying the players would rather talk about nice things, like Warhammer 40k.

What about The Most Interesting Man In The World? He is a sponsor (He does it for free!) of a beer commercial.

On Lady Luck: Be wary of a woman who is only there when you win.
On Manscaping: I don't even know what this is...
On Rollerblading: No.

He wins competitions for his game face alone:

When I went out to college, I got into Dungeons and Dragons (big surprise!), and when I joined the gaming club there, I met a man everyone called Canada. When I first met him, the only word that went across my mind was "dwarf!", because he stood about 5 foot even, had curly reddish brown hair and a great, well-kept beard. Getting to know him didn't change the impression, because he had quite a taste for beer, roleplayed a dwarven cleric of Pelor very well, and toward the end of that semester, shaved his head bald while keeping the beard, which only served to reinforce the look.

He's alcohol dependant, really strong and not too intelligent.

(No offense, dad)

Think maybe you shoulda put the spoiler AFTER the warning?  ::)
Personally, I'm not traumatized, but others...wait, we play dwarf fortress.

The game where capturing, breeding, and harvesting the bones of merpeople for profit is perfectly acceptable.
Where you drop babies down a hole onto steel spikes in your barracks to toughen up your dwarves.
Where puppies and kittens are livestock.
Where nobles are as likely to be assassinated as to have their mandate fulfilled.
Where magma solves everything...

Okay never mind, WWII doesn't seem so bad anymore.
