Roll to Yaaarrrr!
A Space Pirate Boarding Action Game! IN SPACE!
Premise:You are the leading members of one of the up and coming pirate vessels in the 'Black Expanse', a frontier sector of the ever growing United Collective of Planets. After a brief battle, your ship, 'The Saucy Sally' has successfully lassoed a cargo freighter with it's tractor beam.
Each player will be tasked with leading a small squad of pirates to board and capture the enemy vessel. It is encouraged that you all work together to accomplish your goals, but the group that accomplishes the most will obviously receive accolades and a bonus from the Captain. Maybe even a promotion!
Rules:Rolls will be made by 2d6 with modifiers 12 is awesome, 2 is VERY bad. 7 is very minor success. Sometimes I will make rolls that are not visible to players because they will not know the true result until later. They are marked with [?]
The players will start in their docking bays, from their they are welcome to begin moving towards objectives as they see fit! State their objective (I want to secure the bridge) and I will start moving your group in that direction.
What I need from players: Let's say 5 or 6 players for now!
Name: Most things are acceptable. It should be piratey!
Bio: Always nice to have, but not a necessity! Get into the Pirate Spirit!
Ability: See below!
Abilities:Electronics: Your Pirates are well trained in overcoming enemy security measures. No door shall stop you!
Heavily Armed: Your pirates carry the biggest weapons they can get their hands on without destroying bulkheads. They get a bonus to firefights.
Scavengers: Your pirates are perceptive and greedy. They'll have a better chance of finding interesting things to loot, but they will also be more likely to stop and loot when you want them to do other things.
Bloodthirsty: Your pirates are bloodthirsty savages! The enemy fear facing you in melee! Enemies that are captured will suffer an... unfortunate fate more often than not.
Hardy: Maybe your pirates where extra armour, or maybe they're just a little thick skulled, either way, they receive a bonus to damage resistance, (also works for grog-drinking competitions!)
Well-drilled: Maybe you were an officer before you joined the crew, or maybe your subordinates are scared of you. Either way, your pirates are more likely to do what you order them (Less distracted by looting, less likely to run away, etc...)
Tunnel Rats: Your pirates are adept at moving through small spaces and finding short-cuts through maintenance shafts and the like.
(some) Places of Note:Docking Bay: Port/Starboard This is where the Crew dock with stations and other ships, Pirates will begin here.
CAAAAAARRRRgo Bays: Full of crates and stuff booty to plunder. Most will not be of much value to a single pirate, but the haul as a whole will be worth quite a bit (potentially when sold on the open market)
Shuttle Bay: The Freighter is equipped with a small shuttle bay with a few short-ranged craft.
Bridge: The Nerve Centre of the Freighter, It has control of most areas of the ship and will need to be secured for full control of the ship.
Comms: This area controls Communication both on and off the ship. Controlling this area will cease distress calls and make communications between the freighter crew difficult.
Sensors: Controls the external and internal sensors. Will help determine where the enemy resistance is greatest.
Crew Quarters: Where most crew stay. Will generally be lightly defended and occupied by dependants unable to fight.
Officers Quarters: Like the Crew Quarters but fancier. They might have a few valuables worth a detour for.
Engineering: Main control of Engines and power. Expect this area to be under heavy guard. Bridge will have over ride, but disabling the engines will make it easier for the saucy Sally to keep the Freighter in her grips of the tractor beam.
Medical Bay: Injured Crew will be transferred here if they are able to escape battles with your pirates. They will attempt to evacuate if Pirates get too close.
Ship's Bar: A small and poorly stocked entertainment room for the crew of the freighter. Still there are probably a few things the Pirates could find worth taking.
Security Office: Expect this to be a strong center for resistance as security teams plot their defense from this center that helps control ship defenses.
Armoury: Security will distribute weapons in times of emergency (like now) It will be guarded, but many weapons will be distributed among the crew, especially when more crew become aware of the boarding action.
Gravity Control: A small secured room that controls the gravity plating on the freighter. Will make getting around (and everything else really) more difficult. For everyone.
Life support: Particularly nasty pirates may decide killing life support would be the easiest way to remove resistance, just remember than dead crew are not ransomable and it may affect your reputation as a pirate crew!
Weapons Control: They don't have much, but the Saucy Sally still has to be careful of a well-aimed volley!
I'm sure I've forgotten some useful places, so let me know!
