Year 2, Early Summer, A vile force of darkness has arrived!

I expected to have to make good use of my drawbridge, fortifications, et al.  Instead the invaders milled around their spawn point doing nothing.  I thought maybe their starting point was bugged (1-tile thick, very long ledge with a ramp at either end -- I'd strip-mined there previously).  I sallied forth and slaughtered the lot of them.

Different spawn point (one I haven't touched at all), same bug.

I'm beginning to suspect the same thing bugs them as bugged my dwarves when I give the "stay indoors" order (and immediately my entire population freezes in place).  I don't have any subterranean meeting areas.  I can place a meeting area underground to make the dwarves smarter, but the enemy army doesn't seem to respond when I stick one in my farm (the only subterranean zone on my map at the moment).  Do they not check for valid locations once the siege has already begun?

I can confirm this bug. Goblins do not have any intention to go inside the fortress. Even when you send a dwarf at them to drag them back, once that dwarf is dead and there are no more nearby threats, the goblins will return to the same spot they spawned on. I barely even had a military ready when they came :P

This is pretty much a showstopper since they stop immigration and trading.

At least if you don't have a military ready. They come so damn early now.
