Actually, the way I've been thinking of it is this:

A regular Dwarven Fortress is Aperture.

When HFS happens, Black Mesa.

Honestly.

Aperture used low-grade test subjects for minimum pay AKA "So you're a fish cleaner? Go mine out that warm stone."

Black Mesa had highly educated, highly trained professionals running the tests.

And then, there was Frohman...

I am thinking that I will have the goblin g through a series of tests. And man should this be funny. My world is in the age of fairy tales so I dubt I'l be having any FB's coming around.

A goblin going through a series of tests with a Crossbow and a Companion War Frog who shoot arrows that hit targets which fall over and hit pressure plates that release magma that hits the water, making obsidian and allowing the Goblin to pass on to the next test. And all the while, a mysterious voice taunts the Goblin who goes by the name of MAGma.

I have no magma...YET! If I am to finish the test rooms then I shall have to use watter...or even better. Obsidian farm!  8)
