He is basically asking for intrigue.

Which is frankly very common in games that focus on story.

I mean... every Suikeoden game to date had it.

Sandbox games tend not to have it because sandboxes are done at the sacrifice of a strong story, strong character, and strong focused gameplay.

I think by such sandbox games he means games where these relations happen dynamically rather than in a heavily pre-scripted manner.

Unfortunately, I have nothing to offer you in your search. I will, however, pay close attention to any future developments in this thread.

Ohh well in that case...

There is no game that really handles these kinds of relationships in a dynamic nature.

I remembered a game that's exactly fits OP description and in deed it was a great game. I don't remember the name but i know where to look it up. Wait a sec.

edit. No luck so far will try to search it up tomorrow. Just a quick description from what i remember:
-The game is based on a short novel.
-Its set in some kind of alter reality, there aren't humans, the entities are pretty weird. You see only icons of them but some of them look like animals (i remember one looking like dog and one like bird).
-Its a battle between 8 (i think) entities. You can visit each other during day (you see who visited who) and battle each other during night in dreams.
-I don't remember the battles but it was a bit like a card game, it was something to do with numbers, like guessing a symbol which would get most votes or something like that, the trick was to make friends during day, try to assess the relation between various entities, find those who may double cross others try to make friends and not get back stabbed by them or anticipate the back stab and make an advantage of it in the battle.
-On start you and others got some kind of points (4 i guess) and you could loose them or win them from others and somehow they raised your chances in the battle.
-The interface was grey, almost windowsish.
-I had the game from home of the underdogs and im pretty sure it was one of the topdogs at the time.

...any ideas?

Like that game with all the death of diseases? that would be close but love doesn't really exist in that game... it is a game of political marriage.

It was made by a psychologist many years ago on, like, computers that worked only in terminal mode.
Today, its legacy is carried on by this web-based version. A few bits and bobs have been added here and there to modernise its content.

This has evoked rather strong emotions from me. Childhood memories resurfaced very strongly in particular as they were similar to my character's life in the game, and the thought that I will never be able to a world where my parents would not have to emigrate to another country (hint: I come from Greece) seriously depressed me for a while.

Make what you think of it, but this game is the game you're looking for, I think. Also, do read the text. Labelling everything as TL;DR will make you miss out on just the experiences you are looking for and it will not help you in getting into the mood of the game.

Enjoy (or actually be depressed which was what happened in my case).

I live in Iowa, which is to say in the middle of the world's largest cornfield with a surprising number of urban centers in it(at least we're better than Nebraska so... flat... *shudders*) so yes I have been on paved, tarred, gravel, dirt and asphalt roads; done 100 mph on each still alive or some kind of interwebz haunting ghost; meh either works...

Legacy of Siboot, pretty sure. Great game, but I'm not sure it's exactly what OP is looking for.

I actually played this game quite a bit earlier, enjoying it. I was pretty young, and some event happened where I had to make a choice about some dude showing his ass crack. No pictures or anything, but it made me giggle: http://myfacewhen.com/339/

Oh, and then afterwards I looked up what a bird's butt looked like out of plain curiousity:
