Miner died of starvation while swimming

My miner removed a floor I made over the channel in a brook and she fell trough.
I had given her 5 skills in swimming and she just sat there in the water.

Didn't attempt to swim out.
Even enlisting/delisting didn't work.

Is this a bug or a feature btw?

Or is it impossible to swim upward or downwards from a channel?

I've had the same problem several times.  Are the miners supposed to be able to fall in?  There was a submerged stairway-up two spaces away, but the dwarf wouldn't see the way out.  He finally died of thirst.

Yeah, I posted that bug a matter of hours after the new release... route finding in water seems totally broken.
