5 units deep hoplite wall to stop and slaughter any and every enemy charge without taking a single step back.
Archers in front ( i wish they were Cretan, but all mercs i get are peltasts ) to fire their stuff and lure out enemy charges (skirmish mode = welcome to the spear jungle)
Heavy peltasts on both sides with skirmish disabled, set to reinforce line against potential enemy encircling.
Semnites in the back, doing exactly the same.
Generals charging in every single opening possible.
Onager and Balista that i took with me to siege Rome, but got caught with them pants down.
Thankfully i had the romans split up in 3 waves. One set of reinforcements delayed, two that weren't delayed spawned at the edge of the map, the first to greet my Greek wall charged quite swiftly. Silly romans.
I began with fire onager shots, concentrated fire arrow volleys and a last minute general charge in their back, which caused a morale break chain.
After archers ran out of arrows, i used them as encircle infantry to break enemy morale. As the waves started to get bigger, i tightened the formation and nearly closed it, but still made constant pseudo-charges with my skirmishers and generals (and the unit of semnites in the back!) to disrupt enemy lines and shaken their morale.
We didn't budge. (well, not true, we lost nearly all archers, general routed, semnites got raped, hoplite numbers halved, but a sweet victory nonetheless!)
Heavy Peltasts topped kill chart with 1500-1800 on each unit! (
!!!!!!!!!)
It's the first time i play as Greece, and i love it
