Current King of beasts?
« on: April 28, 2011, 06:15:24 pm »

So what would be considered the King of beasts in the current version of dwarf fortress.
Is there anything right now that can compare to the bloodthirstiness of the carp or the elephant?

IMO its a tie between Giant Capybaras and ANY type of badger creature (giant, man, honey)

My Militia Commander is now down to his Right Arm and Left Leg because of a giant capybara, not to mention the tens of recruits i've lost to them.

Well, those are on land. In the water I believe the contenders are carp and sea lampreys.

This should be a poll with one option - The Giant Badger.

Badgers are very violent, as others have mentioned. My guard animals are frequently mauled by conga lines of berserk badgers, although I have never lost an actual dwarf to them (yet).

Or Crocs. Goddamn Crocs keep tearing dwarves to pieces.
And they only get bruised scale from me...

Giant Cave Spiders are still big, carp are still pretty deadly (Dodging is Fun!), and I'll have to say zombie whales.

I've never embarked on an evil biome (Might do it soon though), but whales are gargantuan beasts. Imagine that 200 ton thing running at you.

I sort of imagine the giant whale to come inching at you , seeing that he doest have legs...

Zombie whales can move at you on land but I am pretty sure dwarves can outrun them pretty easily.

They go at swimming speed, so....

Try packs of Skeletal Carp.
