What could i use for graves?
« on: April 28, 2011, 05:24:06 am »

The title asks the question, i don't mean like. Functional Graves, More as a symbolic gesture for the people that died. Thanks

well you know, huge sandstone pyramids with elaborate traps and tunnels and beasts and treasures and engravings everywhere. yeah. that probably qualifies.
or huge grave with thousands of ceramic statues of warriors.
or a chamber for burying all of dwarf's wives alive.
something like that, and magma!

You can just dump the corpses through 'd' -> 'b' -> 'd' and selecting area where they are, ok pressing 'k' -> cursor on corpse ->select it with +- from list - 'd'.
That's however unrecommended because the may rise back.

Most basically, you should order your carpenter/mason/metalsmith/glassmaker to make wooden casket/stone coffin/metal sarcofagus/glass coffin correspondingly. The orders are issued through workshops' menus after pressing 'q' on them.
After that is done, build the coffin through 'b' -> 'n'. Press 'q' on it and permit its use for 'b'urial, then deny burying 'P'ets there. If there are unforbidden accessible dwarven corpses or body parts on the map, a job will be generated to "Place item in tomb".
After you get familiar with this most basic funeral ceremony you can be interesting in defining Tombs for your dwarves, memorizing them on slabs and building huge sandstone pyramids etc. check wiki for it

Thanks! I made a little funeral and played Zelda's Lullaby while they was being buried. Rest in Peace.

I don't have any dead dwarves at the moment to try it, but can you deconstruct a coffin and move it with the body inside?

If you're hesitating to kill a dwarf to test it, you're playing the wrong game. ;)

I'm not going to break the peace because of an experiment.

Put the dwarf to a obsidian casted coffin.
Dump the coffin on the obsidian generator.

Make endless coffins.

No.  If you deconstruct a coffin, the body falls out on the floor.  Someone else comes along and puts the body in another coffin, if available.

Make a hall of all their kills with their body at the end, if they're a soldier/general.

Make an obsidian casted statue with their body in the head.

I'm not hesitant to kill them, I just don't have any that will die. They should have died in the magma disaster, but didn't. And I haven't got any convenient kill mechanisms currently in place. The one in the Noble's room is looking tasty though.

Do we end up with Noble Ghosts if we kill one and then extract them from the tomb? Or is the tomb only something they want while alive?

Only when alive they give a damn. You can go carve a slab for em.
