ive had tons of these before, but this one i just cant seem to figure out.
here's what he wants
metal - i have tons and tons of bars
bones - i've got about three dead animals worth
trees - i have a whole stockroom full
blocks - im sitting on more than i'll ever use
bones - as above
cloth - i have at least 8-10 of all three kinds
leather  (maybe twice, it stays there for longer than the others) - i've got 7 bins full of tanned leather.


what am i missing here?

check what materials the dwarf has in the workshop with the "view items in buildings" (t) button match up materials in the workshop with the asking list to see what's left.

They are sometimes picky with metal bars and will take only the preferred metal. Check if you have his favourite metal in the stockpile, too

ok, in response to all answers at once.
i checked his preferences and he likes copper, one of which, he's already gone and gotten and is in the forge now, along with 16 deer bones, so far, so good.

however...

he also likes to eat turtle, so im hoping that he's not looking for shells as the other bone, because there's simply no way to obtain shells as there's no fishable water anywhere on my map.

any more ideas?

also, anyone know of any tricks that dont involve modding the game to rustle up some shells?
just in case that's the problem.
maybe some sorta cave lake living arthropod im forgetting about?

do cave lobster give shells?

Are you sure you have both types of cloth? I.e. plant and silk? Or maybe wool now?

If I'm to take a guess I would say he wants more bones. I think he wants multiple inidividual stacks rather then one big stack of a dozen bones. I've had my dwarves wanting twostacks of bones regardless of the amount of bones in the stack.
Like my bonecrafter had two stack of a dozen elk bird bones, after the mood he left two stacks of 11 if I recall.

Maybe its the blocks??? Check if you have a block made of his favourite rock.... Like marble for instance...

his demands list logs after bones after metal, and you've said he had already grabbed a copper bar and some bones. You should check if you have more bones, he might want several stack and it's not that easy to notice. Logs are easier so we'd assume you have enough. i'd check burrow restrictions - can't it be that your bones are outside out of his reach?

as far as bones, maybe a skull or two?  Blocks always seem to trip me up, it could be a block of wood, stone, charcoal, its hard to tell.  If you went straight for magma, you might need to get some charcoal to meet the block need.

I've had a mood I couldn't satisfy once. The problem was the bones. He did not want only regular bones, but possibly ivory (which you don't get from most animals).

Check to see if the wood is forbidden and he can get to the stockpile. Also, he wants rock blocks, not rock.

No he doesn't. He's a metalsmith of some sort. He's valuable.
